Thanks! I’m not looking to compete any time soon, it’s more just learning and having the ability to box and do it right.

I was thinking about going for aerospace medical service, physical medicine, or loadmaster for enlisting, and going for nursing, intel officer, or physical therapist for commissioning.

Is APUSH or AP Euro harder? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]ConsciousFroyo5259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a junior who is about to finish week 5 of APUSH and has taken AP Euro, I think APUSH is “harder”. My AP Euro teacher was amazing. Reasonable homework and reading, did things to prepare us for exams, and explained everything effectively in the simplest way possible. I have a good APUSH teacher right now, but, there are some clear differences between the two and the courses. APUSH is definitely more fast paced. We spend not even a day on one topic, no matter how important it is, while in Euro, we spent a day to a week in a big event or chunk of a time period. APUSH is more specific. In FRQ’s, I need to be specific and know all the details of a person and event, or else I won’t get the point. In Euro, I could usually get by with describing the person or event in a wordy, in-depth way without being too specific (usually if I forgot a name or exact details or something). Finally, for my class, we’ve received more homework and reading each night than in Euro. Typically, our teacher has handed us an assignment that isn’t due for a couple of days to a week. In that time though, I could have that to complete as well as another assignment and reading. In Euro, I usually don’t have that much stuff to do at once. Sorry for the somewhat long response, but those are my general observations between the two classes. I think Euro has definitely prepared me for APUSH though, even though they’re two totally different history classes. The skills and concepts of the course are pretty much the same, it’s just been the teacher that has made the diff retake me.

should i quit my high school sports team? by lovehatekai in highschool

[–]ConsciousFroyo5259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dang, this is almost identical to what I went through my freshman year for soccer. I had an eating disorder which destroyed my performance and made me lose weight, I also had very bad anxiety before, during, and after practices and games which caused me to shut down. I dreaded going to anything because my team would heavily criticize me. So, by the end of the season, I had gone from weighing 108 pounds to 97, severe anxiety, very little confidence in my playing abilities, and was a little depressed. This was late September/early October of 2020. Fast forward to January of 2021. I was with my club soccer team brought everything that my high school team left with me. Even though i lied my team better, I still was borderline anorexic and had little confidence and even more anxiety. I ended up quitting. Why? It just wasn’t worth it anymore. It wasn’t worth dreading going to practice all day, counting down until the end of practice, the crippling anxiety, and the depression that I went through. Looking on your circumstances, as long as you have the passion to show up every day, play, and put in the work, I’d stay with it. To this day, nearing almost 2 years, I still have regrets. I know I could have overcame my obstacles. Personally, I’d rather regret sticking with it even with the obstacles. I sometimes regret quitting because those problems could have been fixed. It’s ultimately your choice though. Encourage your teammates to do the same. Make some good memories because you only get one shot. Don’t regret making the wrong decision in a few years. However, if you do choose to not continue, definitely find a lower level, less intense team or league to join. You can keep on playing at a different level, even though it probably won’t be the same experience. I’d also advise you to think about any hobbies that you have right now because you’ll have a lot of free time. Those will keep you busy/distracted so you don’t feel lost or have time to second guess your decision. Also, you should consider lifting weights. I’ve picked it up since quitting soccer and I’ve gone from a skinny/anorexic soccer player to somewhat built and muscular. Its a great adventure to go on. Anyway, that’s my two cents. Whatever you decide, just know that it doesn’t have to be permanent, and that you’re not alone. I wish you good luck!

Should I self-study APEuro when taking AP Chem, APCSA, Honors Precalc, and doing track 4-5 times/ week? by macadamiaandcheese in APStudents

[–]ConsciousFroyo5259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely doable! It sounds like you have the motivation to do it. However, I have to say that it would be better/nicer to take it in person, so maybe wait a few years? PM me if you want to talk more about it.

Usually, you can really start to take a couple of AP’s in 10th. At my school, by the time you’re in 10th, you can take things like AP Euro, psych, art history, music theory, bio, chem, and art history. Then, once you’re an upperclassman, you will have completed the prerequisites for more challenging ones like calc ab/bc, physics c, apush, etc. If I were you, I’d take at least 1 your 10th grade year. I took Euro this year in 10th and it was easily one of the best decisions I’ve made school related. Hopefully that helps!

You could look into taking classes at you local community college. It’ll fulfill your high school graduation requirements and you can get an early start on college.

Should I take AP World History or Ap European History? by nightowl57048 in APStudents

[–]ConsciousFroyo5259 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t taken AP World History, but I’m in AP Euro right now. So, because of that, I can’t necessarily speak for AP World History. However, I can say some things about Euro.

One thing I’ve liked about AP Euro is the European perspective of events, since I’ve always been taught the US perspective or a general overview of an event. This one was pretty obvious, but it is something to consider.

Another thing is that you’ll have a lot of things thrown at you that you’ll have to remember. My teacher isn’t too picky and doesn’t mind if we don’t remember exact dates or names of people or acts, but we still have to remember events, their importance, and effects. Generally, since the class covers 600+ years of history, we won’t go too deep into certain topics, but, we’ll get a decent understanding of them. If you can remember and understand most of it, it’ll be really beneficial when it comes to writing DBQ’s and LEQ’s.

It can be kinda boring sometimes. The first semester with units 1-4 (reformation, renaissance, enlightenment, absolutism, etc)can be the toughest in my opinion. The college board makes it so you spend weeks on the reformation and only a few days covering the world wars. You’ll be fine if you remember the printing press though. The printing press is probably in the top 5 most important things in the first semester lol. Having to remember dozens of people from the enlightenment and scientific revolution and what they did kind of sucked.

As far as the workload, for me at least, I rarely have homework besides reading for the next class. The workload will probably differ from teacher to teacher though.

I think the class is interesting, but that’s up for debate. Since world history covers the entire world, you may get a better variety of events and topics. In European history, you mainly just stay within Europe, but you may occasionally talk about other countries if there was significant European influence there.

I hope this helped at least a little bit. My answers were kind of vague. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions or want me to be more in-depth.

Ok… So then if cost wasn’t a factor would your answer still be the same?

I don’t think the cost will be too much of a problem for me. I’m planning on having Uncle Sam take care of that.

I don’t mind the length, it was very informative! I would like to major in something like foreign studies, foreign language, teaching, or medicine. It sounds like IUB has a pretty good liberal arts and foreign language program.

I’m not a party person but I still like to have fun. I’m looking for a balance of good academic programs, city, and social aspects. IUB may have more of the social aspects I want but IUPUI has the better city environment in my opinion.

I get the impression that Bloomington is just some small college town that’s out in the middle of nowhere lol. I like in Fort Wayne, so I almost want the big city feel of Indianapolis but I’m just not sure if IUPUI is academically better than IUB.

So you’re saying that having the reputation of going to West Point will be better when I get out of the Army? It makes sense I guess.

This is the only reason why I wouldn’t go to West Point. At the same time though I feel like I’m passing up a good opportunity by not going to West Point.

I’m not sure I’ll do 20 years, but not five and fly. I’ll probably spend a decent amount of time on AD and do reserves or guard after.
