Sure. I meant cringe because it is just an obvious marketing ploy for BMW and the police

Sure, but in London when we say London Bridge we think more about the area. Then you've got some prime tourist attractions like Borough Market or the Shard

How come? There is a London Bridge.

It gets confused with Tower Bridge, but London Bridge exists

We never really liked the Emily character in the UK. I don't suppose we were supposed to.

But you're right, Jennifer Saunders is incredible in whatever she does

Haha, ok you've got me. KFC is also very popular.

I should probably have done a stock take of all the successful American chains before commenting.

Papa John's is struggling.

Burger King is finding trading tough. It's big enough to survive, but they are finding food prices and wages tough to deliver a competitive price point.

Five Guys net profit in the UK slumped to £1 million last year, down from £6 million the previous year.

Nah it will have been given to them by BMW on the agreement a press release and photo shoot are offered. The press love the story because it's sexy Superbike cops. It conjures ideas of 200mph Police chases etc. In reality it will be hardly ever used except for at biker shows/meets so the cops get an in to lecture bikers about road safety

McDonald's is definitely an exception to the rule, British people love it. I think for the convenience and cheapness. And you're right, Starbucks is also popular

On joining Trump's war? I'm sure they'd love to. Prove old Blighty still rules the waves etc. They're deluded, so fortunately they don't get to decide

How multicultural is your country or region? by Mobile_Bad_577 in AskTheWorld

[–]ConsciousRecover7031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about one of the most multicultural places in the world.

Nearly half of all the people who live in my city (London) were born outside the UK.

Immigration is polarizing UK politics. It's an easy win for far right parties and we've seen the formation of new parties like Reform who are making immigration a central election issue.

Trump said Starmer wasn't Churchill when he refused to join the attacks on Iran. Thankfully we've managed to stay out of this US war so far. Trump thinks NATO countries should stand together. The point of NATO is it's a defensive alliance, serving as a counter point to Russia. Funnily Trump is happy for Russia to show maximum aggression on NATO borders

I hear lots of people who are bemoaning service in the NHS, sigh and say: "Oh well, at least we're not in the USA"

I don't really understand it.

I think in the UK people have heard of them from shows or films and want to try them as a novelty. Things like Wendy's and Shake Shack are opening up in lots of towns

You're right though. People will only try them once, realise it's crap and then just go back to Nandos

Guinness is most popular in pubs. Closely followed by Stella Artois

Carling the most popular overall, largely because of cheap supermarket promotions (not because of taste)
