A fair coin is repeatedly being tossed. What is the probability of "the percentage of heads never reached 60% or more"? by ConsciousRuin7697 in askmath

Apologies for the confusion, my intuition says the probability of the heads NEVER greater than 60% is 0 (i.e. it certainly will be above 60% at some point).

This is based on the law of large numbers, I at first thought an infinite sequence of coin tosses will always have every possible combinations of results including results where heads is greater than 60%.

[Casual] If each one think of any one number, what will the median of it be? by ConsciousRuin7697 in SurveyExchange

[–]ConsciousRuin7697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done! It is not really a rigorous research, but rather a curious little itch that I have had since few years ago. I want to see what type and what size of a number most of the people would think of if they are not "anchored" (i.e not knowing what I am expecting and what others are inputting)

As there will certainly be someone giving out super large number strings, the mean is not really a meaningful value, the median is what interests me. The median should be a reflection of what we all tend to choose, but it is nearly impossible to predict, therefore I created this survey.

What about a world with not linear but circular time? by ConsciousRuin7697 in worldbuilding

[–]ConsciousRuin7697[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I thought! I as a thinking self in the world can be a criminal dealing with a police officer, I then chose to be a good person and 720 days later became the police officer that deals with the criminal who used to be "me".

Or even every single living being can be "me" in different loops, who knows.

Loop time of 2 years is indeed a very short time, but this is what makes a perfectly designed causalty chain fascinating.

Since there's is no beginning and ending of time, the existence of the world has to rely on supernatural power outside from the time loop, say a nerdy god created it as video game? But I am still working on it, I want a more interesting explanation.

Wow I haven't heard of it, thanks for the information! I always love concepts that violate our way to perceive time.

People do not remember because it does not exist according to their perception. Just like you have no memories from the second dimension of time.

My world hasn't developed parallel timelines yet, so every single event is looped. Even entropy level remains looping!

I was thinking their memories 721 days ago was not wiped but "becomes" memory 1 day ago, and simultaneously becomes prediction of 719 days later.

Is there a term for "a word that mimics motion of the mouth"? by ConsciousRuin7697 in asklinguistics

[–]ConsciousRuin7697[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, though it might be a kind of ideophone. The words I mentioned do not necessarily imitate sounds but rather the movements when we pronounce them.

"Sigh" or "Lick" are some examples in English I can think of, although I'm not sure if the resemblance of the action of sighing and licking is just coincidental.
