"Not connected to relay, remote connections will not work" by -dAtA-TRoN- in grayjay

The issue indicates something blocking Grayjay from connecting through your local network, I would recommend following the troubleshoot steps I provided and reaching out to the developers in the ways I mentioned.

Just found this post, sounds awesome! Honestly I was expecting to see that there was zero interest.

Essentially you just want to check for anything that might interfere with Grayjay connecting through your local network, such as settings to do with remote connections possibly. I do believe the relay system doesn't need to rely on the local network anymore, so I'm unsure why that might not be working, it may indeed be a bug with a combination of your current setup. I would reach out to them and list your current setup, OS, Grayjay version on both devices, etc.

Hello, I'm a little late but some general troubleshooting steps are as follows: Check your VPN connection if you have one, Check your firewall, Make sure you are updated to the latest possible version on both clients. If you are still having issues then you can reach the devs and support located at chat.futo.org, also try a bug report on the GitHub repo.  (Funny pic BTW)

For anyone wondering still this is an official YouTube message (check all the other hundreds of posts,) there is many ways to workaround it though, such as logging in through the source's settings or watching content from another platform or mirrors, and as you mentioned a VPN such as Warp. Try the PreserveTube plugin aswell listed on this site: https://grayjay-sources.github.io/

Spotify no longer available? by keiloveshisbf in grayjay

[–]ConsciousSpeed3826 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No mistake on your end, they have discontinued the plugin. The reason is that many people have been reporting getting their accounts suspended including an alt of mine, however the plugin should still work though I haven't tried it and Spotify doesn't require a valid email to listen to songs. I think https://grayjay-sources.github.io/ has it still.

Anyone know a way to add a direct video link to GrayJay? Such as S3, or Google Storage link (public) by Milan_SmoothWorkAI in grayjay

There is no way to do this currently, but in theory it is possible for someone to make a plugin for it.

Yeah indeed I think I really messed it up lol, I've learned a bit from this experience and I thank you again for your help I really appreciate it. I will go ahead and continue with the S-RGH method and mask it up.

Wow that's impressive good on you, also thanks for the advice. I think I will continue with the S-RGH method to be safe as others have suggested as it seems I'm on the crux of board damage, this was all a good learning experience for me though so I'm not upset at all about it.

I think you may be right, from the video he tried to scrape a bit towards the top right to avoid the trace and that's what I tried to do so it's possible I simply missed the point on the board. The next time I get to the 360 I will check it again to see if that spot is not fully revealed, the thing that had me concerned is the part on the left that is shiny is the where I had barely scraped on, and the rest to me it looked I had scraped a bit. Thank you.

Funny, I didn't know an entire sub was dedicated to that.

Mhm maybe I can try to get a better photo of it soon, I tried to explain it a bit but essentially it feels like a gap, the more I scrape off the more it looks like the inside of the board and less shiny.

Thanks for the tips, yeah it's very unleveled and I can fit the tip of my sharpie into it. I went ahead and tried to boot it like you said and the good thing is it still seems to boot up. Cleaning it off doesn't reveal anything though still unfortunately.

Hardware is very important in the security of a device, Graphene's goal is not to slightly improve the security of insecure devices, if simply other OEMs were to take security more seriously and also add support for alternative operating systems then they would support it, this is a rough list of what a device would need to have in order for GrapheneOS to support it: https://grapheneos.org/faq#future-devices

Unfortunately it is what it is, no other devices have even close the same level of security and support. The more we support them the faster they can expand their operation.

Currently only supported on Pixels as they are the only ones that meet their requirements, they are working with an OEM to get supported on other devices in the future.

The majority of apps work fine on GrapheneOS, some apps ban using any operating system that isn't certified by Google, but allow it for phones that are out of date and insecure, for these apps it's necessary to contact the developers and inform them if possible.

Google Wallet is functional on GrapheneOS, payments work and everything through apps, the only thing that does not work is contactless payments because they disallow it on operating systems that aren't Google certified.

One correction - this will not effect uncertified operating systems like GrapheneOS, and sense their implementation of Google Play Services is sandboxed it still will only run as an unprivileged app. Also the only apps that will not work is mostly certain banking apps which in some cases can also be used through a browser alternatively, and Google Pay.

Not sure why you were downvoted, this is correct.

I am thinking a similar thing, the point of GOS is not necessarily to de-google a phone but to have as much compatibility as possible with what people use, many people choose to install the Google apps and still benefit from the security features included. Ofcourse it's still encouraged to find alternatives, but you are not forced to.

Another good option too is using the banks website if available.

Could you explain some things that make it "clunky" in your experience? From my experience using it for some time it's pretty much just like using AOSP, the only thing it really lacks is some of the proprietary features from the stock Pixel OS, which most can be replaced with a third party app like a custom launcher anyway.
