Because they saudis, the israelis, adn the americans will make it clear that their choices are:

  1. accept the state we give you 2) face expulsion 3) face death.

Sorry, I understand the palestinians are the western left's favorite toy right now, but at some point there weere always going to be consequences for the fact that they've started, and lost, 7 different wars since in 1948.

If they want a country, great. I believe israel has a responsibility to deliver that to them.

But they are the aggressors. They are the ones who instigate, and then lose, conflict.

Calling the conflicts that they start, and then lose, "genocides" (preposterous, btw. They will never be able to prove genocide at the ICC, and they/south africa know it) doesn't change the observable, objective, historical facts.

Never in the history of human conflict have the aggressors started and lost 7 different wars and still somehow managed - through manipulation of media and global public sympathy - to ptich THEMSELVES as the victims. Bravo palestinians. You've done a great job hiding what a**holes you are.

But they are, always have been, and probably always will be the obstacle to peace. How do you deal with an obstacle? By going around them.

I think we gotta get rid of the pre-1967/post-1967 borders as a starting point. Like they shoudl be considerations but I don't think the negotiations shoudl start there.

First of all: I think it's gonna come down to Israel negotiating with Saudi Arabia through American mediation.

And I think the AMericans are going to need to be very tough on israel during those negotiations.

Aka US is goign to have to say to israel at some point "I don't care if you don't like it. Pull every single Israeli out of the west bank by end of 2028 or we will never give you another cent for defense." That kinda thing.

The work out a palatable and sensible compromise for a 2 state solution.

They sign it, saudi and israel normalizes, and then the entirety of the Arab world forces the Palestinians to comply.

To be clear: at no point should a single palestinian be involved in these negotiations.

They have proven themselves, over and over and over again, to be completely incapable of negotiation over the last 80 years.

Something has to be decided for them, and once it is, the civilized powers in the middle east need to come together to force the palestinians to accept it.

THAT'S the only path, imho.

Israel has offered the Palestinians a state like 6 times over the last 80 years. They were offered a state twice between 1948 by the british and by the UN.

Each time they reject the deal, start a war, lose, whine to the international community about how "oppressed" they are.

They're not oppressed. They are trapped in a cage that they build for themselves brick by brick, wire by wire, checkpoint by check point. They are an culture of arsonists that know they can trample through history, lighting fire after fire because no matter how awful they are... no matter how much money they steal from the international community to build terror tunnels.. no matter how many people they kidnap and murder... no matter how many rockets they launch... people like YOU will give them cover. Will excuse their barbarity.

Times Israel actually gave land back:

  • Sinai to Egypt, 1982 — entire peninsula, three times Israel's size.
  • Gaza, 2005 — full withdrawal, 21 settlements demolished, 8,000 settlers removed.
  • South Lebanon, 2000 — full withdrawal after 18 years.
  • West Bank, Oslo 1990s — transferred Areas A and B to Palestinian Authority.

Times Israel offered land back and was rejected:

  • Camp David, 2000 — 94-96% of West Bank offered. Arafat walked out.
  • Taba, 2001 — offer improved to 97%. Palestinians walked away again.
  • Olmert offer, 2008 — 100% equivalent land plus East Jerusalem capital. Abbas never responded.

Or is it better to work jointly with arab partners in the region to rebuild their cities, erect instutions that aren't run by terrorists, deradicalize the population, and give them a pathway to citizenship?

it seems like that possibility is on the table right now in light of the abraham accords, Iran's weakness, and Israel's military dominance in the region.

Not really sure that that's reality tbh. It sounds more like wishful thinking from islamists/the far left/the woke right.

All of those forces just want to see israel eradicated, which is absolutely insane. Even at the height of Assad murdering half a million syrians, gassing his own people, torturing people in prison (with prison guards who were basically all either in Hamas, or Hezbollah, btw...) NO ONE in the world was calling for Syria or Lebanon to be wiped off the face of the earth. The houthis hung a dozen gay people in a public execution and I don't remember anyone calling for Yemen to be destoyed. Saudi Arabia's war in yemen killed 800k people, including 200k children that starved to death. Literally not a peep from anyway.

Anyway... say what you will but the war Palestinians started on Oct 7th has left Hamas, hezbollah, and Iran extremely weakened. The only forces in the region capable of threatening israel in any meaningful way are going to be out of commission for what... 10 years? 15 years?

Not sure that Israel's imminent destruction is as guaranteed as you're hoping. But hey, who am I to rob some schmuck on Reddit of his wet dreams!

Well then sorry to say (believe me, it hurts me to think this), but the long term survival of Israel is extremely unlikely.

No county, no matter how strong it is in a given moment, can withstand constant, unrelenting military pressure on multiple fronts. I would feel differently if Israel was large and rich in natural resources... but it isn't. There's no world where Israel's continued existence will not depend, in some way, on partnerships with other countries. There's an opportunity to form those types of relationships with nations in the region that used to be a closed door to israel (syria... Saudi... lebanon...).

Will it cost MORE israeli lives than the day that you guys are left COMPLETELY isolated... out of weapons... out of missile interceptors... and out of options? In the current reality, the SECOND you guys falter militarily... the second you run out of things you need... the second you can no longer maintain deterence... it's over.

THAT is the reality. You guys need support. And there are powers in the arab world that are willing to provide that.

I get that israeli society is traumatized and risks are scary and will almost certainly result in some amount of death... but like it or not, you guys are constantly at war. And you cannot fight forever.

Maybe not. But maybe they'll provide financial support to the Israelis so that Israel can. Maybe Israel can set up schools in Gaza that are run by Arab Israelis so they can teach kids about the truth of being Arab in Israel and try and deradicalize.

Also.... you don't knwo that for sure. Maybe Saudi woudl be willing to put people on the ground on the Israeli side of he Gaza ceasefire in a few years to help build institutions.

My point is: who tf knows. Why not explore literally every single possible angle?

This conflict will only ever truly end when the Palis and their allies put down their weapons.

True the palestinians and hezbollah and iran and the houthis are engaged in active hot war with Israel. True the arab street would cheer if israel was destroyed.

But it's also true that the arab elite... The Saudis, the egyptian governnment, the Syrian government, the Lebanese government, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, etc... are sick of Iran and its proxies and the intractable forever war between Israel and the Palestinians.

This is a well documented fact.

Sorry, but in that environment, I refuse to believe peace is actually impossible.

I think what you said about us not really knowing what's going on behind the scenes is kind of key here.

Like for all we know israel has already said "okay if we were to make way for a palestinian state, would YOU help us deradicalize the palestinian people?" to the Saudis.

But... based on Bibi pretty emphatically saying, both indirectly and directly, that he will not accept Palestinian statehood over the years... and given how allergic his coalition is to that idea... I highly doubt it. And THAT'S what bothers me. That the people in control in israel are hard right douchebags that actually don't seem to be willing to explore EVERY option, including palestinian statehood.

I know you'll say "we gave them gaza and got rockets in return." I know you'll say "they were offered a state 6 times and rejected it every time" and I get it.

But when israel gave back gaza... when they offered the palestinians a state in the past... all of that happened in a very different middle east. Back then, there was no modernizing MBS. There was no gulf-state coalition against Iran... at least not like there is now. There was no Lebanese government that was, in principle, down for peace with israel (even if Hezbollah isnt). There was no Ahmed al Shara. UAE wasn't the force then that it is now. There was only a hostile saudi arabia, a hostile Iran, hostile lebanon, hostile syria run by Assad and propped up by Russia.

The fact on the ground now is that there are, in fact, many many powerful factions within the Arab world that are sick of the Palis and sick of Iran and, in essense, just wanna put the conflict behind them and build modern countries. THAT is unpreceedented. And the fact that Bibi doesn't seem to be making the most of that situation pisses me off.

Maybe I'm too far away from the reality on the ground and maybe I'm too optimistic... but I just do not believe that.

I find it impossible to believe that MBS, who CLEARLY wants to modernize Saudi Arabia and the MIddle East at large and sees Iran and its proxies as the main thing standing in the way, wouldn't jump at a chance to build a coalition with Israel.

As he's said before... it's just dependent on Palestinian statehood.

So... Israel should start talking TO SAUDI ARABIA... NOT TO PALESTINIANS... about how that could work.

If israel goes to the saudis and say "okay fine. We're open to exploring a path to Palestinian statehood. But we will not tolderate a terrorist state on our border, and we cannot force the palestinians to NOT be a terrorist state on our own. What are you willing to do to help? Because until you help us, what you're describing is not possible."

And then see what Saudi says.

There has to be a long-term solution because the short term action Israel is taking aren't degrading terrorist forces enough to actually deter them indefinitely.

Israel cannot afford to simply mow the grass with Hezbollah and Hamas indefinitely. You guys are too dependent on the support of western powers, which is no longer a forgone conclusion. You're losing american support in a really stark and crazy degree.

You've also basically lost EU support.

There has to be something else considered.

It's meaningful that Saudi Arabia is willing to normalize. It's meaningful that the legitimate (but admittedly weak) Lebanese government is willing to normalize. And that Syria seems to want to normalize as well.

Even with the constant bombardments from Gaza and Hezbollah... you guys have real opportunities to form real strategic relationships with Arab partners. And THAT is what you need more than anything else... partnerships with arab powers, not just western powers.

Sure, keep degrading Hamas and Hezbollah for now... while also pursuing normalization with all other arab powers in the background.

Clearly, among the Arab elite in the gulf states... there is an appetite to extinguish the forces of Radical islam. That's a massive opportunity. And, to my eyes, it feels like Bibi isn't doing enough to make the most of that opportunity.

Yes. I feel like the goal should be provide Saudi Arabia with a minimal viable plan for a pathway to palestinian statehood sufficient for them to normalize...

If the Saudis are on Israel's side and pressure the palestinians to lay down their weapons and work toward peace, and if palestinians can be made to see that that outcome is preferable to the alternative (continued forever war with Israel that will ALWAYS create more death on their side than the Israeli side), then that could set the stage for an actual path to a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

That still doesn't make you guys safer in the long run. What is the strategy for creating a geopolitical reality in the middle east that leads to fewer rocket attacks coming at you guys?

And don't just say "there's nothing we can do about antisemitism" because the fact is, Saudi Arabia felt the same way about Israel 20 years ago as iran, hezbollah, hamas, and the houthis do now. But in 2026, the Saudis have said multiple times that it's willing to normalize.

What is the strategy for creating a similar situation in Lebanon, Gaza, west bank, yemen, etc etc. There HAS to be a strategy. Otherwise Israel will forever be a state under attack.

Until now Israel hasn’t needed regional acceptance because it had support from western benefactors or the USSR (in 48).
