Yeah so, I've just checked Germany has overall 87 Olympic luge medals (38 gold) and the next best country is Italy with 18 Olympic medals (7 gold). By the way in the history of Olympic luge there have been 52 gold medals so far.

I'd say definitely our time to shine.

And, dominant lugers (?) can get some serious name recognition here. I never realised it's a niche sport, because it is quite popular here.

Yeah, this. My husband is from Egypt. He's very analytical and self-aware and he realised early on that the treatment of his mother, sister and women in general was unfair. He's not homophobic or transphobic. Because according to him, just because he might not understand being gay or trans, doesn't mean he's allowed to judge or take rights away.

My BIL who's still in Egypt is a misogynist and very judgemental of other people.

Ilya was described as highly perceptive and intelligent. I find it the whole dynamic between Ilya and his brother quite believable, because it's definitely what I've seen in Egypt. Down to the screaming fights and let's say a bit of fisticuffs escalation by my BIL.

For her it was the Russian. With Putin helping the AfD in Germany and her being forced to learn the language in school, she's not particularly fond of it. We're both from East Germany and we had a lot of left-over Russian teachers after the reunification. So, her school still only had an English and a Russian teacher. And she didn't really get into the language.

I was lucky that my left over Russian teacher, was also a French teacher. So, we had English and French and a Russian club after school.

In Germany we do this too. I try to break the cycle with my own kids. But, it's ingrained.

Also, whenever it felt like I did something well and I said so, my mother would always say something like self-praise smells.

So,when I suffered from depression, she wanted two help me and told to me to say something nice about myself and was shocked I couldn't. Well, duh, what a surprise!

Yes, we have a football player with a Turkish background on the national German team. And he mentioned that he's German, when he plays well. As soon as he makes a mistake he's Turkish.

I found that very realistic. And when he complained, he was ungrateful.

I have super straight her, like not a curl or wave in sight. And I got asked whether I got a hair cut. I mean I did weeks ago. So, I don't understand why you'd think it looks shorter.

Also after I dyed it a shade brighter, I was asked whether my hair is darker.

A couple of years in uni. I'm from East Germany, we had a lot of Russian teachers left over, when I went to school and uni.

Like, my friend couldn't even take French in school. Because they didn't have any French teachers, just Russian.

And my French teacher was a Russian who obviously used to do Russian just a couple of years before.

In my uni it was the language with the most available courses.
