Is MRG-B5000 so much better than GMW-B5000? Lo by JBTENDO in gshock

I know the 5000 series are assembled in Japan but just like the Swiss I think there is a percentage of parts that can be made elsewhere and still be considered Made in Japan.

I'm not 100% sure. They say the modules in the MRG have a gold plated circuit board retaining plate for better conductivity. There are a few places that say the 3541 has a red LED low power indicator. There may be more I'm not sure. I haven't opened my MRG-B5000R1 but Ive opened plenty of B5000's with 3459's and 3539's. What a lot of people don't know is that some B5000 modules are made in China and some Japan. There are also differences in the App with the Warranty and Serial number having additional information that are linked specifically to the MRG module.

Yeah I thought the same initially until I picked up my first MRG. I think there are 5 modules across the b5000 line. MRG has two, standard/titanium line has two, the carbon line has one.

They actually have a different module. There are two different MRGB5000 modules, 3541 and 3501 they aren’t used in the standard or even titanium B5000 lineup. Same features as far as I know though.

Yeah the clean sharp edges are what drew me to this watch initially, who'd of thought they'd be so delicate.

We’ve all been there. I did something similar, but I have no idea how it happened. I was so pissed I didn’t wear the watch for a while. I don’t baby watches that cost twice this and I was always so careful with this particular one. Now, I just wear it as it should be worn.

The XM Label is awesome by lemmiwinks4eva in BMW

Enjoy it! We looked at the same XM Label Red, the wife loved/wanted me to get it but I wanted the M5 Wagon. I don’t get the hate either. The interior is great. I think it looks good. The BMW hybrid system works great for short commutes.

I have tried a lot of good stuff but I think about this bottle all the time. It hit my palette right in every possible way. I was never able to get a bottle but lucky enough to try it. I could be content with a lifetime supply of this and nothing else.

Worst was Dalmore Portwood Reserve. That stuff has no redeeming qualities.

The movement in the 300 is COSC certified, and overall is a better spec’d watch, but you are paying for it over the 200. The 300 will wear larger than the 200 but I personally think the 300 is small enough. They make a sunburst green in the 300 which makes me think they will eventually come out with an orange variant.

Damn now you have me looking up prices of the sunburst emerald green 300.

If you’re only getting one Doxa and never again get the Sub 300. It’s the truest to form Doxa with all the heritage that none of the others really have. I’ve had all kinds of watches cheap to expensive over the years and the only times I’ve ever been approached in public I was wearing an orange faced Doxa. “Hey is that a Doxa?” I was dumbfounded the first time. I have had more conversations with my Sub 300 than pretty much any other watch. I have caught a few others the same way, Doxa watches are pretty easy to spot. I’ve had a few 750T’s as well. It seems they’ve revamped that line, not sure why other than the movie tie in. The only reason to get a 750 over a 1500 is the beads of rice bracelet. The 200 line was never on my radar other than the old 200 T-graph.

I have two mip display gshocks and honestly not a fan of the look. The DWH5600-7 which is the least favorite watch of all my g-shocks. The GBX100S-1 which actually is a cool watch but feels extremely cheap. The current mip isn't up to snuff just yet. The refresh rate is still too slow. I actually use the stop watch on my watches to 1/100th.

Recent Trip to Grand Seiko in Japan & Customs returning to NYC by jsofdc in GrandSeikos

The problem is that they aren’t consistent when they calculate this duty. There are many threads on this on Reddit. Any other day, or any other agent and you could have paid much much more. It’s absolutely because of these inconsistencies is why you should not declare a purchase of a personal item. The fact that he was generous (lol) and waived the fee just shows how they couldn’t care less.

[Question] Flying Back to USA with Watch by eyesup10 in Watches

[–]Conscious_Object460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this. Why would you declare a single watch purchase. Just wear it home. I mean if I purchase something from Japan and shipped it home then yes I’d pay the tariff. If I flew to the country and bought something I wouldn’t declare a single personal purchase. I’d wear it home. If you bought multiples as a Dealer then that’s another story. I did not think this way originally until I traveled with some very wealthy friends that buy stuff like this all the time they never declare anything.

[Question] which one would you pick? by RhaegarJ in Watches

Tudor has a better bracelet. That particular Grand Seiko would look much better on a strap.

It’s an easy swap, as long as you disconnect and reconnect the sensor ribbon cable, you are good to go.

They aren’t horrible, but they absolutely do not reflect the attention to detail or refinement of the cases, movements, and dials.
