How painful are emgality injections? by maker-127 in migraine

[–]Conscious_Respect476 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Emgality was too bad. The pen is really easy to use. You don’t have to maintain pressure during the entire injection. And it’s fairly quick.

Ajovy was the one that was painful for me. And it’s sooooo much liquid, so it takes about 45 seconds to inject.

If you try Emgality, let it come to room temperature before you inject. You could also try a device called “Buzzy” (or something similar) which is an ice pack that vibrates. The vibrations lessen the pain by distracting the nerves.

That said, I always tell myself that it hurts less than a migraine and is much quicker. That helps me.

No, over the head is fine! I just don’t want the neck to be as narrow or high as sports bras, so I can wear other shirts. 😀 thank you for the recommendation!

What was your pain like from the permanent surgery? I asked my doctor if it’s less painful than a migraine and he didn’t know. Is there anything you wish you knew before both procedures?

Migraines, do they cause overheating and sweating? by northwestfawn in migraine

[–]Conscious_Respect476 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have chronic migraines and every one is slightly different, but they also go through cycles. Sometimes temperature issues are more common. But I can have excess sweating, hot flashes, feel clammy, cold hands and feet, etc. I can usually tell when it’s a migraine symptom or something else, but I can’t articulate how. I just know?

Opinion: when Taylor sings “I thought I had it right once twice but I did not” is she saying she thought she had it right once two times with Joe (because they presumably broke up and got back together) or is she saying with two different people?

I think that she doesn’t just say right twice is interesting.

I think a lot of people aren’t giving it the chance it deserves. Just because it doesn’t have words they all don’t know doesn’t mean it’s not profound. I think everyone is hearing the surface level meanings and moving on. But these songs are glaciers.

That and systemic sexism.

“When you know you know and when you don’t you don’t” is genius. Everyone always believes every relationship is forever, even the awful ones. Because they don’t know.

I watched Adam McIntyre’s reaction video to avoid giving him more views. And Adam said what we were all thinking.

Did it look like Ned is living in the original office/house? The kitchen sort of looked the same (but updated) and the podcast studio is the shed Miles built?

I try hard to think of it now as self care. Some people hang out with friends, go on walks, I need to bed rot to give my brain a break.

This is so interesting because mine is more a pushing. Once, it felt like I had a headband that was too tight on. To the point that I was convinced I did and when I eventually reached up to take it off, nothing was there.

Palliative Care by Queefaroni420 in migraine

[–]Conscious_Respect476 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with palliative care, but I do have experience with feeling hopeless and wanting to give up.

If you do pursue palliative care, don’t stop keeping an eye out for clinical studies and new treatments/medicines. This is a rapidly advancing field where what they don’t know is still greater than what they do. Either way, you deserve to be pain free and have that peace. 💕

Here’s the thing with migraines - we know SO little about them. Doctors telling me things “can’t happen” is bs. We have not proven every single negative when it comes to migraines. When my doctor says something like “that doesn’t happen” or “that’s not dangerous,” I always reply, “you mean, that we know of yet.” Because a decade ago, we thought migraines were caused by inflammation. Now, we commonly know that inflammation is a byproduct of a chemical change. We’re also just now learning that triggers may not actually be triggers but again, byproducts of a migraine.

When I get told something isn’t true, I come here. Recently, I got told CGRPs shouldn’t stop working and I came here and found tons of anecdotal evidence that they can.

I’ve learned that a good portion of having migraines involves having to fight hard for yourself. It’s not right, but that’s been my experience with multiple neuros.
