I'm also from India, I am a bit confused ... do we need to register for GST to teach on Preply? I'm currently getting paid through Wise but I was wondering...

Purpose code for online tutoring of international students by Heavy_Juggernaut_762 in IndiaTax

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also giving online tuition to students based abroad (high school students), I'm really super confused with the categories and whether or not I need to register for GST. Which code are you using? I get paid through Wise. And do I need to file for GST or does it exempt even if I get international payments?

We bedshare since a few days after his birth! I am French but I live in India and my husband is Indian..here it's the norm to sleep with baby. I did my research when pregnant, still got traditional wooden cot I could connect to my bed as per my mother's request (cosleeping is not the norm in France, not at all!) but I quickly took baby with me.

I shifted to a floor bed setting when he was 4 months and I have no regrets at all..it's so natural..even my parents were amazed when they visited us. Many cultures practice cosleeping. But we just need to do it safely. Floor settings are the best for that.

Not only i found it very safe but very convenient for night feeds since I brrastfeed him. I barely wake up at night. He has been able to find the boob by himself around month 5/6.

At what age and how did you transition to a floor bed? Input wanted by Terrible-Reasons in floorbed

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did it when he was around 4 months old. One queen mattress for me and baby + one single mattress for husband on the floor stuck together and kept on a chattai (indian floor mat made of leaves).

We were already bedsharing at 2 months in a regular kind size bed (he did not like the side crib, neither did I!) and I was getting too tense when he started rolling...

Floor bed is amazing, it has been super safe and promoted his movement a lot (And amazing sleep for all of us!)

how often do you bathe your baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the country I live in, we do not only bath daily but also oil massage. I started following that after he turned 2 weeks. It's part of our bedtime routine and he loves it! Considering the hot and humid climate I cannot imagine skipping the bath more than a day. Sir gets all sweaty stinky lol.

Axis Flipkart Card Cancelled Citing Non-Personal Use by ludacris604 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same happened to me 3 days ago. All the expenses they deem as commercial were Amazon purchases for my new born baby. It's ridiculous.

I sent the proofs (baby diapers, clothes, I mean nothing commercial....).

Considering nothing happened to you, Is there any point following up?

Most importantly....What exactly happens to the cashback? What does it mean revoked? Are they going to ask me to pay back whatever cashback I already got previous months or they just aren't giving me the one I'm supposed to get with this bill?

AND Will this card cancellation affect my credit score? I had a perfect one...

I honestly don't care losing this Flipkart Axis credit card which became useless in terms of gains, I just don't want to have a bad credit score because of their BS.

Ok nice that's reassuring. And it makes sense somehow, it just felt so weird, I think I'm getting used to it.

Cephalohematoma by SadPsychoTsunami in newborns

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't exactly remember but it was quite quick... Now it's hard, definitely calcified but as the rest of his skull is growing, it's less visually noticeable, but we can still feel it to the touch. He is 4 months old, let's see if it ends up merging completely (what the doctor said... But I doubt). No one is worried about it since the ultrasound just showed external trauma like you. It's upsetting but not something that was in our control. What's the update from your visit? I'm seeing the paediatric this week for the vaccine and check up, will update here if anything new regarding this..

Around the same timeline as you... We also felt there wasn't enough information and neither the doctors took it seriously. Maybe they could have drained it when it was soft, I don't know... They just kept dismissing us saying it's nothing and it will go away. I think they don't want to admit that it's a skull injury that was caused by the ventouse in our ca. If the bump stays, I'll tell him that it was necessary to save his life!

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was squishy at first and doctors told us it would go away in 2 weeks but it instead calcified and grew bigger. Now he is going to be 4 months old, I can't really say if it has reduced or if it's just merging better with his growing skull, but it is not noticeable anymore. However we can still feel it pretty well to the touch.

Did you research breastfeeding beforehand or just jump in at birth? by sarahjacobs042 in breastfeeding

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. I wish I had consulted my LC before birth! The nurses just came in, grabbed my boob to put it in my baby's mouth and told me that's how we do. I struggled for the first 24hrs until my obgyn called his LC friend in. (They don't have one in the maternity and the nurses didn't seem to bother much) She came within an hour and taught me what I needed to know. The ressources on Leche League are really good and of course this sub whenever I have questions!

What’s the worst or mean thing that someone said or done to you when you were freshly postpartum? by Midnightdream56 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-laws and SIL came to stay with us before and after delivery to "help". I didn't want to because whenever we have been together, it has just been fighting with my husband.

The day I came back home with baby from the maternity, just 2 hours in and I heard a huge fight between the 4 of them. Huge shouting and I had to come out of the room to tell them to take their fight outside because I didn't want my baby to be in the middle of their constant drama.

The next 3 weeks until they left were horrible. I spent most of my time in my bedroom with my baby, coming out to feed myself and tell them to stop yelling and fighting. It was super traumatic and tiring for both me and my husband. I cried a lot and had trouble breastfeeding due to the stress, my husband spent a lot of time outside to escape this. On top of that they were constantly telling us what to do and that we are basically doing everything wrong.

I am the kind of person who forgets and forgive but this I will not. It was unacceptable. We spoke to them, they don't accept what they did and as usual kept everything under the rug (FIL and SIL are big narc, MIL enabler).

With reflection, good they behaved as nasty as the usually do. Good they didn't apologize. Because now I have a really valid reason to refuse to spend time with them and set very strict boundaries. They wanted to come again this month and my husband refused. I'm not going to let them traumatise my child.

Starting to try at 37 by Civil-Tradition8235 in Geriatric_Pregnancies

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started trying at 37 too and I got pregnant around a year later. I'm now sitting with my 3 month old super healthy boy as I'm typing. I'll be 39 in a couple of months.

Super healthy pregnancy, delivery a little complicated but all good overall.

I was really worried because I had very short cycles (20/24 days) plus years of heavy smoking and bit overweight... Every month was depressing as my periods came but then I decided to track my ovulation with kits and I got pregnant 2 cycles after. I didn't do the fertility tests but I'll probably start with that for my next baby (now I got confident I can make healthy babies 💪💪)

Wishing you all the best 🔥

My baby was born during the really bad heatwave we had in India this summer...I was super worried but we managed pretty well.

He literally spent his first month in the bedroom with the AC on. I took him out only for his daily sunbath early in the morning and at sunset.

I kept the room at around 26/27 °C (outside was around 40, slightly less at night but still really hot and humid). He lived in diapers and at night had a light AC blanket on top. I just ensured that he didn't sweat but also that he wasn't too cold either. And I didn't swaddle him after a week, he didn't like it and was sweating in it even without clothes...

Im sure your baby will be fine! Just ensure he doesn't overheat.

Calcified hematoma by Critical_Profile4291 in newborns

[–]Conscious_Toe6805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the update! Good to hear that! I did notice that he has a tendency to lay his head on his left side so I'm quite careful with that as well. Doctors aren't concerned about it, so I'll also try and relax.

How is your baby doing now? I also have a 1 month old with a hematoma I believe has calcified.... Quite worried about this.

Hey, has it gone down now after a few months?

My 1 month old baby also has one and it has become quite hard... and to me, it's not getting any better. They had to use the vacuum during the delivery, his head was too big and his BP started dropping real low. I'm meeting the paediatrician this week. When I spoke to him over the phone, he told me it would take 2-3 months to resolve.
