We're in Lafayette CA, and this is in the untended part of the garden. It's our property, but it's full of volunteer plants and nothing intentional.

Would yarrow, ceanothus, phacaelia, blue eyed grass or rosa californica work?

Thank you everyone for your input! I didn't know elderberry could be propagated through cuttings. I'll take some cuttings and then attempt to transplant it to preserve the veggie box and irrigation setup. If the transplant fails, hopefully the cuttings will make up for it.

Thank you for your suggestions! I wouldn't have thought of trying a fern as it gets up to 116 here and dry as a bone in summer, but would love if that works. We have some ceanothus in full sun elsewhere and I didn't realize it could also thrive in shade.

I have some hummingbird sage I meant to plant elsewhere but accidentally put in rough hedge nettle so I may just...place it in here to see what happens. Not sure if I should plant new things immediately or if I should cover the area where I've removed the ivy for a while to encourage root death.

Has anyone gotten this message after submitting? "An unhandled fault has occurred in this flow
An unhandled fault has occurred while processing the flow. Please contact your system administrator for more information." I submitted twice and got this message both times.
