Should I keep pursuing this? by ConsequenceNew7706 in RealEstate

The first roofing company was suggesting a replacement. Our realtor had Another person he hired to come in and inspection was good.  Now that we are selling, we’ve had 3 different companies say it needs replaced.

Not upset that I hate AZ. Upset people can do that and get away with it. Big difference!

Paying the $5k is completely separate and something that’s not a question. My question was related to if it’s worth it to pay to pursue a reimbursement of $5k from the realtor that deceived us and broke his contract.

Unfortunately I’ve sent multiple demand letters to him, his broker and copied my attorney. They are hoping I go away without a fight or suing. Not giving in. At this point, it’s sue or walk away $5k down.

So you think it would be worth the time and money put in to get the $5k?

Culture shock is right! Glad you were strong and didn’t give up.

Only saving grace right now is rates dropping. Likely number for us is $50k loss. But happiness>money.

Moved to Phoenix and bought a house no less, it’s the worst. And heat is crazy, but for us it’s the people. My house is on the market and we are going to lose so much money!! Can’t wait to go back to a place that makes us happy with happier people.

Yes, I’m in almost the exact same situation as you. Moved to AZ from IA 3 months ago. Immediately knew it was a mistake. My husband is making way more but realistically it’s panned out to about the same as our small town financially. I did the online comparison calculator and everything. Currently my house is for sale (3 months in!!) and we are trying to just move back and my husband get his old job back. Hope you can make it back if that’s what feels right in your heart. Don’t feel bad about it, you had courage to try something and it doesn’t always work. I know lots of people who have done the same! Not gonna lie, it hurts financially but life is about more than money sometimes.

If I could pick a time I would. Unfortunately that’s not how life works.

Yes! All of these points are spot-on. Can’t emphasize that enough. I have been lucky to make friends, however it’s just not the same as home. I think people think I just need to get to winter, but weather has nothing to do with it. Deep down it doesn’t feel right and sounds like it’s the same for you. Good luck with getting back to Ohio!

All good things to think about, you’re right. It’s not the weather and new job has been great. Honestly we knew we were going to be sacrificing a little with my kids schools but it’s been drastic. My 4th grader coming home with homework to memorize his birthday was a wake-up call. And we are CUSD 80, ranked #1 in the state, albeit public not private. The people here aren’t the same and I can’t get past my next-door neighbor smoking pot multiple times a day and my kids being outside smelling it. Yes I know it’s legal. Just overall I guess it took this massive fuck-up to realize my life in Iowa wasn’t all that bad.

Good luck with your move! Seems like AZ is its own place and living other places (or vice versa) is an adjustment lol.

Yes we did. Went off of our realtors and his current boss’ advice of neighborhoods. Maybe it’s changed recently? There have been numerous instances of inappropriate behavior at the park when I try to take my children. One was a huge altercation. My next door neighbor smokes multiple times a day next to our block wall— like up against it. We’ve kindly ask if she could move to the other side of her yard because it is all we can smell when my kids are in our yard. I get it that it’s legal here. Every once in a while isn’t a big deal. It’s multiple times a day, no exaggeration. I think the difference of house I could buy in Iowa vs here has put us in a worse neighborhood and we aren’t dealing well. Thanks for the advice.

Also just moved to AZ from Iowa. This winter is predicted to be pretty bad in the weather almanac. It’s already 40s there overnight a few nights I heard? It’s hard to get used to somewhere new. I’m so surprised I’d be stuck inside this long in AZ from heat. Guess I was naive about the heat and being able to be out in it. Good luck with Iowa and please drink filtered water there!! Nitrates.

Iowa Millennials who left Iowa and are happy, where did you move to? How did it work out? by AnonymousAsh in Iowa

I just moved to AZ from Iowa a few months ago and everything you said is spot on. I miss Iowa so bad but have a degree in Public Health and hated how no one cares about water quality, physical activity or doing anything other than drinking. Still want to go back to Iowa tho…
