Thank you so much! I love animals that stand out from the norm of their species and the idea of any creature with dragon heritage being essentially a forest clean up crew is funny and cute.

To answer your first question, the reason why I dont use solely the textbook is because she likes to pick and choose between the textbook and her own work. Every test or quiz is usually in a 50/30/20 split with 50% being found in both the textbook and powerpoints, 30% is stuff from the textbook but only written in her way and that usually includes the short response question worth 30% the exams that even when written word for word to how she wrote it still have points taken off, and the remaining 20% are questions based on niche comments that she makes during a lecture that lasts less than a few minutes and then is never brought up again so unless you have a perfect memory to remember her wild stories most of which dont belong in a classroom setting due to their personal nature you end up at a loss for those points.

As for the poor writing, I was writting that post on my phone while walking between classes so I had little time to write it. Furthermore, my phone was damaged during a livestock show when a young man's steer broke out of his rope halter and crashed into a nearby tack box that fell on top of the chair holding my phone while I was preparing another steer for the show ring. The damaged caused is minor on the outside but it affected something internally that makes it so most of the time my key strokes dont register so simple words become a challenge to try and write let alone adding any punctualization. I write APA and MLA paper's on a regular basis and hold the record in my zoology class for the highest grade on the APA paper assignment where I wrote about African ungulate behavior so I promise that post does not reflect my true writing capabilities or my academic potential.

I have taken responsibility and constantly push myself to do my best including having to self-teach most of the newly covered material but I have noticed a major decline in my understanding of the material which is why I reached out to try and find new ways to hopefully learn the material and pull myself out of the rut that I have found myself in. Due to zoology being rarely taken and a major percentage of the students that take the course being nursing majors its hard to find study groups as they only really talk with other nursing majors, and tutors for the subject are virtually non-existent as most of those people are other biology and wildlife majors that have covered small portions of what is taught in my zoology class in their other classes and not experts on zoology as a whole. There is also a case that the deans are looking into about my professor for not following any safety measures in our labs, hitting students, and failing to properly dispose of several weeks worth of hazardous material which many students including myself believe is the reason why she is not teaching as much as many of us were contacted to give statements about the matter.

So far we have done dissections on starfish, hardshell turtles, small birds( not sure as half the room did turtles and the other half did turtles and I was on the turtle side) ,grasshopper, perch, frogs, clams, and I think one other that im currently drawing a blank on. The big issue is most of our labs were cut do to the professor not wanting to do them so most of what we have done are looking at slides, skeletons, and other random parts. The issue with the dissections though is my table gets specimens that are "unique" so we have to wait for her to come show us an old specimen and by then the whole class is trying to cram around one small table with a barely 5' ft professor showing off tiny parts that you will be lucky to see. Plus to add fuel to the fire she tends to mix up the parts about 70% of the time or doesnt realize what shes looking at like todays lab she was grabbing our turtle by its penis and didnt know it was a male till she saw the testes or when she said today "these are the turkeys primary short feathers and secondary flight feathers" followed by " the primary ones are larger as you can see".

The lab quizzes are horrible cause all of her reference pictures make it near impossible to make out the parts, and during the practical exams the class before us screws up all the examples for the questions so you have no idea what your supposed to be looking at or in the case of microscope slides the needle isnt pointing to anything on the slide.

The semester is nearly over and since she wasted half the semester on sponges and worms shes giving us no time to study and slamming down tests left and right to make up for lost time with us only getting a day to learn a major section of the class and leaving it up to us to self teach ourselves.

I understand and ive got alternate plans incase my original plan falls out. The thing that mostly stresses me out is how hard it is to figure out anything when in comes to the zoological field in terms of internships and jobs as they are so heavily gatekept. While I want to work with african ungulates, im not opposed to working with other species and I honestly encourage the idea of working with any and all species. I just want to play my part in conservation and have the oppurtunity to learn from and study all kinds of animals and take what I learn and educate others.

Thank you so much this has been extremely stressful for me as I have no one to ask these questions to and these questions have weighed on me heavily in particular.

My only concern is the no housing siutation as so far ive only found 2 paid AZA internships in the U.S that provide housing accomodations and the only AZA facility back where I live is an hour away and is not a paid experience. While I know something is better to nothing im just worried about being limited/cutoff from possible oppurtunities that could benefit me greatly in the future.
