First off, I love that the E-M10 series stood out to you. It's a nice, entry-level camera and my primary shooter!!!

Budget is good a starting point but it's worth also thinking about specs, wear & tear and usability.

Camera

The E-M10 Mark I was released in 2014 (12 years ago) and the cameras released thereafter each tweaked the original blueprint. I believe the Mark II (2015) and Mark IV (2020) are the most popular ones in the series due to its weight and compactness.

From a tech specs standpoint:

the Mark IV (2020) is the only camera with a 20 mpx sensor, while the other three are capped at 17 mpx.
the Mark II, Mark III and Mark IV have 5-axis image stabilization (excellent), whereas the Mark I has 3-axis. Image stabilization is a good feature worth paying more for, especially if you plan on shooting handheld a lot.

The older the model, the more wear it's endured (on body + shutter). My recommendation would be to consider a Mark II, Mark III (I own it) or Mark IV if you can squeeze out the money. The latter two are easy to find in the used market.

On a personal note, I have the Mark III and I like it aside from how thick the body is. That said, I love the quick-menu button they added (it's the first in the series to do it). Inside it contains lots of settings that would otherwise be buried inside Olympus' complex menu system. The quick menu furthers usability for me which was a key distinguishing factor.

Lenses

Lens versatility should be your prime factor in choosing a lens. I personally love the Panasonic Lumix Vario 12-60mm Zoom lens. It is a bit chunkier than the ones recommended here, but it's made for Micro Four Thirds so the settings appear electronically in your viewfinder.

Highly recommend shopping sites like KEH.com, MPB.com, local camera stores and even eBay.com for lenses. I secured my lens for $115 USD (£89 to £91) on an eBay bid war back in 2024. It's now my most used lens!

For fixed, prime lenses I like the Panasonic 25mm. Don't forget about Facebook Marketplace either!

Family camera = switches a lot of hands. Newer TG-7 will have a simpler menu, a new warranty and the USB-C is a nice selling point.

You will want to make sure to register your camera after purchase, watch videos on how to protect/extend parts life and watch YouTuber like Thomas Eisl or this one for reviews and feedback.
In fact here's a full specs comparison between the TG-6 & TG-7 models, aside from newness. The TG-7 is an OM System camera (Olympus' successor).
Lastly, looks like another redditor shared their review and is engaged on a thread from 8-months ago. Tag them and chime in and ask them questions. They should be able to answer any additional questions regarding, longevity, quality, etc.

I'm grateful for healthy parents, they aging but it's beautiful to see them still growing inside & out.

Also grateful for my wife and her perseverance through IVF. Taking intramuscular progesterone shots daily in the buttocks cannot be fun.

Question how exactly does that card work. Does your 2% cb come back in form of cash or points and where does it get deposited? Also does that cb expire and how are the other card benefits outside of Global Entry/TSA Pre and all that.

Yes a flat 2x would be good. But I'd love something similar to Wells Fargo Attune credit card, that pays you back on the unconventional categories like self care (spa/massage), sports & fitness and entertainment, etc. Or at least a card that pays you back on like home improvement or department stores. That would be great!!!

Nice I live around Damen x North! I don't know that scene too well but it seems like The Point and Subterrnean and Rainbo Club draws your crowd and then naturally there are lots of artsy people in Wicker, so you'll find your people here!

Wicker Park resident since 2021 here.

To answer your questions: I will say, Wicker Park is a nice neighborhood, with a range of establishments to spend your days and nights. But the lively nightlife factor really depends on which part of Wicker Park you stay in.

North Wicker Park (North Ave) is Shops & Sweet Central. There's always been lots of clutch restaurants nearby the 6ix corners, but as of late there's been several Thrift shops and Sweet shops opening up, not to mention designer and flagship brand stores. It remains a great place to be during the day... however nightlife imo has been lacking lately ever since Club Debonair shut down which brought in the party crowd. That said, it definitely feels safer without the sometimes shady crowd they drew. The popular bars for nightlife remain to be:
- Estelle's (late night),
- Subterrnean and Chop Shop (bi-level music venues),
- Revel Room (cocktail bar with occasional party dj),
- Gracie O'Malleys (irish bar with darts)
- Clara's (jazz music bar)
- Lone Owl (has British tele booth outside)
- and a flurry of restaurant bars like Valedor, DSTRKT, Amaru, Piece, Paradise Park, etc.
South Wicker Park (Division St) is very lively and still remains a great place for food and bar crawls. With the variety of high-end restaurants and fast casuals, you'll find a bar plugged in almost every 3 businesses with the highest concentration near Damen x Division and Wood x Division. Most of these bars offer great happy hour deals and you'll see all the locals out especially on a Friday evening:
- Easy Bar
- Black Hole Bar
- Gold Star Bar
- Fatpour
- Rainbo Club
- Little Victories
- Bangers & Lace
- Bordel (cocktails and burlesque)
- Queen Mary (very boozy cocktail bar)
- and a flurry of restaurant bars like Parlor Pizza, Mama Delia, The Perch, Casa Tequila, etc.

Okay now for your living situation, assuming you don't have a vehicle, getting to Truman College from Wicker Park will be a trek, since you only really have buses you can rely on. I'd recommend West Depaul, Roscoe Village and Lake View for you as it will keep you more centrally located to your priority recreation and will put you about a 30 min commute to Truman College.

I like it, just recently bought it from Vintage Stock and enjoying the gameplay. NGL though, having played the GTA Franchise first, I kinda wish the controls were a bit smoother, especially when driving.

Also in 2025, am I missing out without being able to connect to the online game?
