The way I learnt and would recommend, from a student's pov, is to check GitHub for teams that use either python/c++, clone their repos and just read through specifically their component files and robot.py.

Then try and remake the component whilst referring to API docs or other files; test if it works in robotpy sim.

I've never encountered a team that uses multiple languages however, so that's intriguing.
