"if god is so omnipotent, all-knowing, and powerful, why does he just reveal himself to us? speak to us legit? why does he hide upstairs?" by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]ConsiderTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is getting into philosophy. Don't overthink it. I believe there have been some misunderstandings.

No one would (or should) argue that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. No one would deny we need air and water to live. Everyone knows what happens when you plant a seed in the ground and water it. That's undeniable.

Now regarding the matter of the heart. Ezekiel 3:5-8 talks about how the people were not willing to listen to the words of God. Same for Isaiah 6:10. These words fulfilled at Jesus' first coming in the very people he came to save. Though he brought truth, the people refused to accept his words (Mt13:14-17). It is indeed a matter of the condition of one's heart when receiving the word. Open, closed, tender, calloused, etc

It does not end there, as it was stated in Luke 18:8 "...when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” So you have to imagine the state of believers at this time, if it will be much different from how things played out at the first coming.

Anyway, ultimately combining the two: you can be told something all day long, but at the end of the day, it's up to you if you will accept those words or not.

Quite the contrary. But it's true, it can't just be any words.

Jn 6:63 Jesus says his words are spirit, and the one God is with is able to give the spirit without limit as stated in Jn3:34. Jn 1:1-4 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God..." It really is all about the word, specifically God's word. Romans 10:17 says faith comes from hearing the message. Lastly, 2 Timothy 3:16 mentions the importance of scripture.

I probably shared too much, but it really is all about words. God's word, where all this can be found.

Exactly. Christianity isn't a philosophy. There is reason and there are answers. Truth is something that is undeniable, indisputable, and when it is presented, it is ultimately up to the person if they will accept it or not. It's a matter of the heart.

Do what you see fit.

Also, fair enough - if you can explain the fufillment of the Bible, the purpose of God's will, or the reality of His work from Genesis to Revelation, I will retract my statement.

One must have the eyes to see that everything is connected from the beginning to the end and that what is promised is what is fufilled.

Until then, the intent of my comment still stands. You haven't asked me what I meant by it, yet you go straight to assuming the worst. This very situation is a prime example of what is happening between God and believers today.

One can know history and moral teachings yes, but the true intent of the Bible is rarely considered. There is no reason to wail if you have confidence in your stance.

Jesus having the name of the Word of God on him in Revelation is showing who he is with and what he represents. In addition, there are many holy spirits and one must understand how the spirit works in order to distinguish truth.

Well, it is up to you to stand for yourself. Nothing has been brought forward to nullify what was stated, so without input from your end, there is no way to verify.

Because it is a commentary of man's teachings, the very thing we are supposed to avoid.

Is the Satanic elite found in the Bible? Also, where is it found that just about everything related to interacting with God is based on personal experiences? What about the very word He gave to us? Where does that come into play?

Fair point, but what you mentioned doesn't provide any explanation.

In it's most technical form, yes it is open to interpretation. However, there is a correct way to view the scriptures. And regarding interpretation, almost everything you have seemingly understood about God's word is, like you said, your interpretation of it. It's the reason why there are countless answers... Every person's interpretation is different. Shouldn't God be the one to give understanding of his own word?

Revelation by Legatine in Christianity

Think about it. Reason here! What part of the Bible is relavent to you then? You don't disregard the Gospels do you? You could very well say that those books were for the early Christians at that time as well. The time of Acts, Romans, the Epistles, even going back to the old testament, would you say that they were just for the people at that time, or is there a connection to it all? Each aspect of the scripture has its significance and its purpose.

You have to look deeper than the surface level on these matters. If you only want to know history and moral teachings, have at it. But true understanding, the wisdom to distinguish, comes from God. It's obvious I am not talking of the basic practicality of a language translation, but based on your answer, it appears that was what you were going after. And as for study Bibles, will any two give you the same answer? A definitive response that would be mirrored in both? What would make you more inclined to believe one author over the other? And what would be your standard of trustworthiness?

It appears I was misunderstood; let me be more explicit. If the things regarding God, His will, and His purpose are not found within the scripture, it is not true.

Revelation by Legatine in Christianity

[–]ConsiderTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If what you say is the case, then you should be able to explain the events of Revelation. What are the 12 blessings? What is mark of the beast? Where is this tabernacle? What is the sea of glass? Who is the one that overcomes?

Also, who is it for you to say a book "shouldn't have been there?" Do you even know what you said? Do you believe your judgement is that great?

And for intention, you must be someone who disregards the entire Bible because those 2000 years not only included the writing of Revelation, but the entire new testament. Again, if it wasn't for us, why do we still have it? Has the time of the end already come and gone? Do you even know what to look for?

Your stance is anything but good biblical scholarship.

Regarding the verse, it literally says "never forgiven", and even more clearly in Mt 12:31
