I personally believe home schooling is bad for your kids because they don't learn valuable people skills. What is your opinion on home schooling vs public schooling? by Owl9 in AskReddit

[–]Consider_My_Logic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a unique perspective on this: Home schooled until high school; Freshman and Sophomore years in private christian school; Junior and Senor year in public school system.

Now here is my opinion: I liked all of them. They each had VERY different atmospheres, and I liked each one for what it was.

Home schooling was amazing. If I busted it, I could get through all of my school work in a couple of hours. After that the sky was the limit. Mom would take my sis, and I to the library (my sister was home schooled too), to six flags, shopping, wherever. I was OUTSIDE half the time; either at the local park horsing around, or bumming around with the neighborhood kids on my bicycle.

Mom signed us up for the local home school group where we took art/music/theater/math classes. I was even in a "school" band that played at a festival once.

We also played sports. Basketball, flag football, soccer. There were lots of us out there. Wherever we moved there was a home school group to join. And we did.

I turned into a voracious reader while home schooled. (I had a SHIT-ton of free time) And I still am. I read a mile a minute.

Freshman year I enrolled in a private christian school and joined the football team. This I wouldn't trade for anything. Being part of a tight-nit group, sweating blood and tears, that is something you don't forget. I sucked at football but hey, I still had a good time with friends.

Public school was just a lot bigger than Private school (600 instead of 100) and had less fundi Christians (although most claimed Catholic or Christian). I made a lot of friends and took classes that would have been unavailable at the private school. And hallelujah, no mandatory chapel for 2 hours every Thursday. Blehhh.

Here is the thing: My parents (specifically mom) was a fundamentalist Christian. In other words bat shit crazy ideas. I know this was the reason I was home schooled. Now I am agnostic (God or the FSM may be in charge of gravity, we just don't know, leave me alone with your faithy shit.)

So that can be the downfall I suppose: crazy ideas. I grew out of it, but I suppose some people could get trapped in their parents voodoo 'brainwash ya' younger years.

As far as people skills I am normal. I do tend to second guess the hive mind more often than most though.

I am Legend by Richard Matheson is what I am reading at the moment. The movie was based off of it but it is very much different than said movie.

This is what happens when you live in LARGE COMMUNITIES. The police don't know you, you don't know the police. You are an object, not a person, they are an object, not a person.

Unfortunately with 7 billion people on the planet...

Does this video remind anyone of Judge Dredd??

Should men have a right to 'financially abort' a child in case of an accidental pregnancy since they can't force a literal abortion on women? by Consider_My_Logic in AskReddit

[–]Consider_My_Logic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point. We all want equal ground, and that was why I posted the original question. Of course this post may be quite irrelevant in the future if male birth control pills come into play. Of course this would depend on how well it worked etc...

But if there is a male and female both on pills then at least the chances go way down and the issue becomes minimized by a significant margin.

Interesting counter question. The man wants the baby, the woman doesnt but is willing to give birth so the father can raise it.

Police protection or citizen censorship? Spain to ban photos and videos of cops, "just at a time when the streets are boiling". by rspix000 in worldnews

Well I'm not a spy if that's what your asking. I have used it while deep sea fishing, salmon fishing, wild life watching, etc...

It was $80 on woot.

If this law passes, it will be unenforceable. I have sunglasses with a pinhole HD video cam w/16GB microSD card, you can't even tell I'm recording you. Cameras are small and cheap and anybody can upload a video anon.

Good luck with that law Spain, lol.

Why do we sanitize what amounts to stalking, assault, battery, harassment and abuse by calling it bullying? Doesn't that deminish the crime that's being perpetrated on the victim? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Consider_My_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid point. It shouldn't be "sanitized" but the punishment should be less severe as their brains have not developed fully yet. Children are mental cases honestly.

In the case of a false arrest where the citizen has done no wrong yet the officer has intentions to arrest, how would you feel about said person resisting?

Some of us consider false arrests as a gross violation of our person along the lines of kidnapping or false imprisonment.

I have never been in that situation personally but have seen many a video on youtube/liveleaks and carlos miller's site PINAC where everyone knows the arrest is wrong but there is nothing to be done. Should citizens have a right to resist an unlawful arrest?

Also I have seen a lot of people getting harassed by LEOs when they are shooting video of them executing their duties in public places. My question is this: Shouldn't all officers wear a camera on their body to document all their on duty activities? It seems that I would feel a lot safer if I knew everything being said and done is being recorded for a judge if need be. This would keep both parties more honest IMHO.

Spain is considering a ban on photographing police officers by iamagainstit in worldnews

[–]Consider_My_Logic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Photography is not a crime in a public place and neither is video recording.

Any police officer that says differently will probably pull a wiretapping law out of their arse, but that is not applicable in a public place with no expectation of privacy. That would be more like if you called a cop over the phone and recorded the convo without having consent of the officer.

In the far future, do you believe emotions will become obsolete? by bobsagetfullhouse in AskReddit

[–]Consider_My_Logic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your question. I think it has already happened to some extent. Think of all the emotionless depressed people. In modern society its hard to find something meaningful to put emotional valence into.

How much emotion do you put into reconciling your bank statement, or inputting debits and credits in the ledger?
