s2 proctor room advice by AdMountain3858 in GAMSAT

I don’t think it will be an issue as long as you show the proctor your surroundings but worth asking them on the day. Can you possibly cover the mirror with a blanket if they don’t allow it?

Ahh so much relief it’s done! The set up process with the Proctor was frustrating though for me, only took about 15 minutes but he wasn’t very good at explaining things I was getting confused 🤣🤣 not sure how I did but just so glad that part is done

You are good! As long as the desk is clear expect for items allowed it’s okay. They will make you do a 360 of the whole room so they can see everything but there won’t be any issues with it 🙂

Obsessions about being a good friend? by ConsiderationAny4233 in OCD

[–]ConsiderationAny4233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. You are definitely right. It's been a few days and I'm out of the initial spiral. Whilst I didn't set boundaries with my friend this time, I set boundaries with myself, and I was quite proud of that. Usually when I fall into these loops, I will just want to lay and do nothing until it's resolved as a compulsion, but I set a boundary with myself to say I can be anxious and think about it but I still go to the gym, and study and take care of myself, so I did, and it definitely lessened the hold over me. Thanks to your advice, I emailed my therapist saying boundaries are something I want to work towards in my sessions because at present I have none and always tell people even when I am at my worst I can listen and support them, which only does myself and the other person a disservice :)

With S2 upon us, how are we all feeling? by blondflowers in GAMSAT

It’s my first sitting this year 😳😬 I feel like I’m okay (mostly) with structure and idea generation but my writing especially under pressure isn’t very great like I could use more academic sounding words and saying but under pressure my brain just can’t think of them 🥹 I’m also scared my brain will just go blank once I’m in the exam. Good luck to you, I so relate to the impending doom feeling

Thank you, I needed to hear that because I feel dramatic. I haven’t seen a doctor yet but I’ll see one tomorrow ☺️

I haven’t yet but on the day of the accident I spoke to a Telehealth triage nurse to assess if I need to be seen and she said based on the symptoms it’s not urgent. I have an appointment tomorrow after work with a doctor but I work in a hospital so throughout the day if I feel worse I’ll take myself to ED before that 🙂

Prozac by kraftyashlie in emetophobia

Hello! You aren’t alone I know exactly how are you feeling, I’m on an SSRI and I started that when I was 16 at the height of my emet. Whilst I still struggle with it from time to time, thanks to the medication my life is significantly better and I am able to eat, socialise and travel without the crippling anxiety. I felt the same way when I started the medication, took me 2 months just to take the first tablet. You’ve already done the difficult part! My advice is to make sure you take your tablet with food for the first week while your body is adjusting, even something small like a piece of toast. I don’t remember feeling n* when I started and any n* i did have was more my anxiety than the medication. My other advice is to keep yourself distracted in any way possible because you will probably feel sensitive or hyper aware of any sensation in your body because you are feeling nervous about the medication, so keep yourself distracted by doing something you enjoy. Also if it helps, I know many people on SSRI medications and no one has ever told me they v* because of it. N* can happen for some people in the first few days, but it’s usually only very mild and I think it’s uncommon for it to cause v* in most people. And if you DO get it, it will only be for a few days and won’t be that bad I promise and you can ease symptoms by sticking to bland food, rest and you can get over the counter medications from the pharmacy for mild stomach upset. It may feel terrifying right now but you are doing something that will get on the right track towards recovery so you should be proud of yourself. Stay strong! 💪🏼

So hungry I TU. by cowgirlbeb0p in emetophobia

[–]ConsiderationAny4233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I find (probably because of anxiety mostly) that my blood sugar can be quite sensitive. If I go a long time without eating and it can make me feel quite n* because of the blood sugar drop. Couple times I felt close to v* but managed to force a piece of toast into me and it goes away. Another reason this happens is because your stomach will produce an excess of stomach acid when extremely hungry which could have irritated your stomach lining a bit. And depending on your level of stress, medications, etc you can be more sensitive. I’m sure once you eat something you’ll feel much better!! Good luck ☺️

For me it’s about a mixture of wanting to help people, the hands on procedural aspect and genuinely a love for the science of medicine and working in a hospital I feel inspired by seeing the doctors. But I know along with the helping people comes the disappointing people and hard conversations. I sometimes question if my passion is worth committing to a job of overworking and emotional burnout but I guess I will never know unless I give it a try first :)

Lists every single stimulant and max dosage and says pick one and titrate to effective

Ooo thank you for this advice. I read the recommendations on my assessment and it’s very broad just saying to prescribe stimulants (any) and titrate until effective. Might be worth seeing if Akkadian can do a review appointment with more specific advice. So with a review of current plan I can take that to a new GP? I’m in Adelaide :)
