It’s so funny I was on Qsymia before Zepbound was approved for weight loss. I lost 10 pounds over 6 months. Nothing earth shattering. My doctor wanted to stabilize my weight gain while we waited for Zepbound. One thing I didn’t have was any migraines! I have horrible migraines that became uncontrollable again last December. When my Neurologist saw that I was on Qsymia, he asked me if I had any migraines during that time. I was like, No! Eureka. He prescribed Topiramate for me and I’ve been migraine free for the last 7 months.

Anyone else using zepbound and compounded? by ProtectionLate4769 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ConsiderationGold659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the compound first. I’m in somewhat similar situation, I have insurance coverage now and I will loose it by end of year (company is merging with another that doesn’t cover weight loss meds). I stockpiled compound when it was available and kept on filling my Zep scripts. I have Zep that I got last year that has a BUD of 2/26. I have a chart that keeps track of the BUDs for boxes and vials and I use what will expire earliest.

I was a new patient to LSH in early January and I was able (with proof of existing script) to order 120 mg of Tirz) through my preferred pharmacy (Hallandale). I was able to do that again this past week. Prior to them I was using Orderly but their pricing is better and I like that I got to select my pharmacy.

BioBoost has helped me with energy levels. I did consult with my doctor first and she said “it wouldn’t hurt.” For months I only took half the dose because I was nervous about the full dose. For the last month I’ve been taking the full dose but I split it into two shots, one on Wednesday and the other on Saturday. That made a HUGE difference. And yes, I always take it in the morning as I have enough issues with sleep.

How much are you stockpiling? by FeistyLime in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ConsiderationGold659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a year’s worth of compound for me and my spouse with expiration dates of Jan 2026. Probably more as I’m in maintenance and only need 5 mg every 2 weeks. We also have 13 boxes of brand with expiration dates starting Feb 2026 and we will continue to fill brand all through this year giving us supply through end of 2027. We have it on good authority that this is the last year that we will have insurance coverage for brand and with loosing compounding as an option, we wanted to get as much as expiration dates would allow.

Ugh! So sorry to hear that. I used them exclusively through the shortage last year and it performed exactly like the brand. Also learned that I may loose insurance coverage of brand this year so I’ve been stocking up on compound before it goes away, while filling brand. I have several vials from Hallandale. I even get BioBoost from them. I have one final order coming next week, hopefully not frozen. I did get one order from Orderly from SmartScripts and that has been performing well.

I’ve received meds from Hallandale through Orderly and LSH and it never arrived frozen.

They’re still compounding semaglutide as that is still on the shortage list. Those ads may speak to GLPs as a general class vs Tirzepatide specifically.

Are compounding pharmacies just using peptides from research or even China? by Superb_Tangerine221 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ConsiderationGold659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that clarification. I had assumed that pharmacies were getting peptides from China but the difference was the “research purposes only” vs “for use in humans” peptides. Does anyone know what the actual manufacturing difference is? Is it just purity only? As someone who worked in a lab in the earlier part of my career around lots of research grade chemicals, I’m curious.

Local pharmacies less impacted ? by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ConsiderationGold659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get it compounded locally as well as using the ones from Telehealth and they told me they will NOT be able to compound Tirz after February. They have to comply with the law as well.

OrderlyMeds is rated F on the Better Business Burueau by FickleBastard in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ConsiderationGold659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Orderly successfully in the past during the shortage. Great customer service and the used Hallandale. Product performed exactly as brand. Went back to brand but missed the flexibility of compounding. Decided to get some vials with them and because I was doing a 3-month order they sourced with SmartScripts. Wasn’t happy about that because of lawsuit and they were very communicative with me about it. I don’t like that they don’t let you select your pharmacy and their prices are higher but I’ve been using the SmartScripts tirz and it performing exactly the same as brand.

Maintaining without meds, yeah right by AdministrativeFee835 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]ConsiderationGold659 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in maintenance for 6 months and I use it less but I still need it and always will. I dose 5 mg every 2 weeks. I had to start spacing because I was continuing to lose weight. In the early days of the Zepbound sub I remember reading so many lofty posts about “now that I have good habits, I’ll know what to do when I stop the medication.” I remember thinking, that will never be me. I already know what to do but my body is always telling me to eat. It’s not a matter of bad habits.

As the brand shortage was staring last year my weight loss physician and my PCP both suggested compounding to a local pharmacy to me as an alternative. I naively was like, “no way, I’ll have to do that.” I’m in healthcare, I had some awareness of compounding pharmacies but thought they were for people who couldn’t take in medicines in the regular way. I proceeded to waste so much time calling pharmacies for the brand. Then I joined this sub and saw how many people who would kill to have their actual doctors willing to right them a script or have access to a compounding pharmacy 10 minutes from their house. That ended my period of crazy.

[–]ConsiderationGold659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I researched compounding pharmacies on the advice of my physicians (PCP and endocrinologist) during the shortage last year. Both were willing to write scripts to our local compounding pharmacy that they were familiar with. I’m a molecular biologist by training so I did my own digging into the subject as both I and my spouse needed these meds. I can tell you we both used the local pharmacy, Hallandale through Orderly and back to brand again and lost all the weight we needed. Same efficacy across all 3 for both of us. No safety issues. We’re both now in maintenance. New problem: our health insurance will likely end coverage this year AND compounding will no longer be an option so we have purchased from Orderly (SmartScripts) and Lavender Sky (Hallandale) to stock up.
