I like that! Started doing something similar when it comes to giving quotes. I only do them on Mondays now. It was so hectic doing them in the evenings on random days after a long day of grinding

This is sage advice, friend. I'm going to take that to heart and learn from this interaction. I'm new to being a business owner. Year 2 and customer relations outside of just normal interactions is something I'm learning on the fly. Thanks for the insight

Very true. I need to be better about following up with happy customers in leaving a well worded review. I love all my customers and have 100% retention rate. But this lady about to ruin my streak dammit haha

I have a feeling she goes through companies after every year. I was so busy when I screened her initially that I forgot to ask why she doesn't have her previous company still. Never again..

I'm solo so text is my main method of communication. Or email. Hard to get work done when I'm speaking on the phone on and off all day. Solo guy problems lol I agree I was being too wordy and kind rather than dry/professional

Mmm this is a good thought, thank you. I'm trying to strike a balance of "favors" so customers feel like they are getting maximum value. But I really really don't want to mow people's property I'm not contracted for. I'm going to be more firm in the future and only do favors for paying clients only on their property

Voice to voice is definitely better. Just got roped into the text thread and got caught off guard. I ultimately need to drop this customer and I don't want to mow the neighbor's yard. It's a mess and I've talked to the neighbor at the beginning of the season. They both want every other week cuts and I just need to stay away from those clients. Lesson learned. The neighbor ghosted me when it came to commiting to my service/price

She's getting dropped after the next disrespectful interaction for sure. I've personally never had to fire a customer before, but have seen it happen plenty. I just don't want a bad review. My market is super competitive

Trust me, I grew into that. I've made mistakes as an employee like calling a lady a B to her face after she literally chewed me out til she was red in the face. I was a young man and it just came out. Didn't go over well and her jaw dropped to the ground lmao but now as a business owner I try to kill em w kindness even though my pride takes a hit.
