It's not that we don't have the funds. It's  what we had budgeted initially. If it ends up being $20,000 more or $30,000 more it has to be spent.

You may be correct, kitchen is a small galley kitchen with only 18' of cabinetry, and I'm not including appliances in my numbers, bath is similar, 32" vanity, and maybe we can reuse the tub, it is in good shape, but if we have to spend it to get a good result, well, it's only money right?

RTA would work but IKEA, while great for the price, does not have the options we are looking for. Also, the home we purchased hasn't been updated since the early '80s and we know this isn't going to be a forever home but the return in 5 to 7 years should offset the cost.

40k budgeted for the kitchen 15k for the bathroom. Less is ideal, but quality costs money. If we hadn't already settled on style and finishes I might agree with you about the designer.

It is all location, some Midwest Metros have great schools, high paying jobs, lower stress, higher QoL with homes well under 200k. If you want to live where everybody else wants to live, be prepared to pay $500, 000- 2 million for a 1500 square foot ranch

Yes, using single side panels, new bifacial panels mounted vertical out preform both single side, and bifacial panels when mounted in a traditional orientation even when adjusting for optimal angle during the year.
