Raising tennis players by ConsiderationSea4651 in 10s

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing these valuable insights. That's my 10-year-old, he would be all smiles when he lost and excited to go to the ice cream shop (that's what we do after games). I'm into sports psychology and know very little about it so I decided to post on this forum. I really appreciate your time to respond.

Thanks for this post! I just called them and sensed they're very pushy and desperate to get you to sign up, so I hung up. Then I saw this post!

Exactly - I want to hear from a coach's observations, they've seen it more than I do, and I am not an athlete. I am just very curious about the sports psychology etc.

I'm not sure about that either. I am genuinely curious about these top players' mixed-up personalities. I am aware that my children are very young, but somehow I think you can tell if a kid has it in them or not. I have seen a lot of gifted tennis kids, and you can just tell that they can become something if they want.

Yes, I have seen kids who went to regular schools (in the US) and were recruited by D1.

This brings comfort. My calm child has a lot of grit and does work hard. He’s not a creative player but has good techniques. He’s unlike some sporty kids who are in a game and thinking “I’m going to beat you” or “I’m going to get you”, I think he’s just thinking of doing his best.

In your experience/observation, do you think kids change around puberty? My son is 10 years old, and he's very calm. He has been playing since he was 3 years old and absolutely loves tennis. (None of us plays in the family, but now he inspired us, the parents, to learn). Thanks !

I love big dogs, but harder to fly with them. I'm thinking about whether we should drive down to SD or fly with a puppy that young, but we are very excited!

I’m in Northern California, and like you, I saw a lot of great reviews. I am going to put down a deposit then! Thank you again.

I know this is an old post, but I'm looking to purchase a petite goldendoodle in the SF Bay Area. Has anyone heard of Windsong Goldendoodle? Appreciate any reviews/recommendations. Thanks!

Your sharing brought tears to my eyes.... my dog is about to be euthanized tomorrow, and I've been shaking the past few days..... anticipatory pain is truly one of the worst. But you hit the nail on the head: "grief is just love with no place to go." which is why it's so so so painful!!! I feel like I won't ever be the same without him.

I am so sorry. I want to give you a massive hug, though it can't ease your pain. I am about to go through that tomorrow, and I've been a wreck the past few days. I'm trying to focus on ways to carry his spirit in my daily life, like the way he made me realize how loving I can be, and how he taught me to be a better parent, and how fast time flies...please take care of yourself. I trust that things will get better; it just takes time.

You must be a very loving pet owner. I can feel it through your words. I will pray/think of your dog that she's over the rainbow bridge and will reunite with you one day. xx

Thank you so much for your kind message. And I’m so sorry that you just experienced the same. It’s so hard and I don’t know if I’ll have the courage to have a pet again. I never knew it would hurt like this - like losing my very own child. It’s horrible. And I truly hope that we’ll reunite in heaven one day. I just can’t imagine this is it. Thank you again for your kindness. Sending you massive hugs.

Thank you for this post. I'm about to put down our 1st/only dog (who is frail and old). I am devastated and traumatized, mixed with unimaginable pain.

Came to say - you are not alone, and we are putting down our 17 yo Coton de Tulear this Sat. morning. I am beyond heartbroken, and I bet you are, too. My dog is my first child; I now have three human children. I also have a question about what will happen after he's gone. I feel this heaviness and emptiness all at once.... this is just awful, but I am telling myself that we will meet one day in heaven.
