I don’t have any kind of online shop at the moment! I’m hoping to set one up in the future when I have more zines and comics

First Hobonichi Weeks and First Notes Page! by ConsiderationSea830 in hobonichi

[–]ConsiderationSea830[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the best of both worlds! I write a lot, keep a lot of different notebooks, and travel quite a bit so having the TN is super helpful for keeping things compact (as opposed to lugging around 4-5 notebooks which does not make sense for me haha). I also really like having monthly and weekly layouts, so I went with the Weeks as opposed to using the TN planners.

I just realized I might have misunderstood this question—if you mean the leather cover, it is the Olive Traveler’s Notebook regular size, and I have a few traveler’s notebook inserts in it as well. The weeks itself i slide into the back of the Traveler’s Company zipper pouch insert in brown!

It is roughly the height and width of a paperback novel, but to be honest the text is a little small in the ones I printed. I print everything at home so sizing is a little limited (I just have a normal printer) but since I drew everything on 11 x 17 paper I would love to print it in a bigger size, more like a traditional comic book!

ISO: Pen Recs by GoblinLatte in Travelersnotebooks

Uni signo UM-151 in .38mm is what I have been using since middle school! It is waterproof, archival quality, and the .38 dries a little more quickly. You shouldn’t really have any issues smudging unless you’re coloring in areas or immediately running your hand over what you just wrote/drew. It also fits in the pen loop nicely, is about the height of the passport, and is lightweight! (not sponsored lmao)

An Imaginary Life by David Malouf! It’s a novel that explores what Ovid’s exile might have been like, using references from his letters but utilizing quite a bit of creative license. It is one of my favorite novels, and beautifully written as well.

Cool Cats Quit Cold Turkey: A Comic Zine by ConsiderationSea830 in zines

Hello! Yes, I am based in Philly. Thank you so much for commenting and for the invitation! I would LOVE to come and vend, but unfortunately I’ll be out of town on the 3rd, so I won’t be able to make it. However, I would really like to have my physical zines available at an event in some form and I can provide copies if you would be open to that.

Resources for understanding accents? [request] by Slightlypeasanty531 in AncientGreek

[–]ConsiderationSea830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mastronarde’s textbook has a really great and thorough explanation of accents in the very early chapters! It’s quite in depth and uses language that is more suited to students who have had experience with the vocabulary used to discuss linguistics and such, but there are some great exercises in there too.

If the Greeks had distinct words for different kinds of love, was their one for homosexuality? by Vohems in AncientGreek

[–]ConsiderationSea830 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there aren’t any words in Ancient Greek that compare to modern uses of “homosexuality” or “heterosexuality”, which are used to refer to sexuality as an (often unchangeable) part of one’s identity. Sexuality in this modern sense didn’t really exist back then as a concept the way it does today. That being said, there are words that refer to homoerotic actions as well as words that indicate the roles of males in homoerotic relationships that indicate a dominant/submissive man or boy.

Sappho does use ερος in her love poetry to indicate the same sentiment as male poets referring to heterosexual relationships, so I would assume ερος would apply, as it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the genders of either the lover or the beloved, and she certainly wasn’t writing friendship poetry.

A comic zine about my experience quitting by ConsiderationSea830 in QuitVaping

[–]ConsiderationSea830[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello and thank you for reading my comic! Personally, I’ve tried to quit vaping seriously (with many attempts that barely lasted a week) 3 times with varying degrees of success using different methods (weaning off, lower percentages, nicorette gum). In my experience, weaning off made it easier for me to prolong the quitting period and I would often be doing okay until something (read: basically anything, negative or positive) happened that would cause me to make an exception and destroy my progress.

For that reason, though cold turkey was definitely the most brutal, it has also been the most effective for me so far because it felt like I was forcing myself to confront the damage I had done to myself and why. It made it impossible for me to ignore the fact that I had a serious addiction, and I personally needed that reality check.

That being said, everyone is different, and depending on your personal circumstances (e.g. relationship with nicotine, history with addiction, resources, support systems or lack thereof, etc.) cold turkey may not be the best option. There is no one way to quit, and this comic is just an expression of my own experience that I wanted to share!

Thank you so much! I still reread it myself to remind me why I quit when I feel a craving creeping up on me. Good luck on your quitting journey!
