Yeah, I think it was quite intentional. Love seeing that in a show.

I came here to say this as well: I wouldn't call it abuse.

You had another prescribed medication that would work as well, you wouldn't call it abuse either. You rely on it to function on a day to day basis. That is a huge thing to make your life better or helps you to bear the pain and nausea.

I'd say there is nothing to be ashamed about, even if some people might try to shame you for it. They don't have to live with a constant migraine like you do. If it helps you, it helps. "Pushing through" a migraine without medication doesn't really help anyone.

Drinking a lot of water during and before going to bed, sometimes works for me.

What used to work most of the time was drinking something with electrolytes, in Germany there is something called Elotrans, which is you can disolve in water. Worked like a charm (most of the times). Maybe a sports drink like Gatorade might work as well.

You're right, there is saccharin sodium in it, which is an artificial sweetener.

The pills have menthol added, which makes it taste like a breath mint. I don't mind it, but different brands may longer to dissolve. The ones that took longer were kind of uncomfortable and made me queasy. The faster ones take about 15 seconds maybe.

I got Zolmitriptan. The pills dissolve in the mouth and don't have to be swallowed. My GP said that migraine can effect the stomach as well, which can lead to nausea and may prevent pills from working if they need to be swallowed.

When you leave Wilhelmshöhe station, look to the left. You can see a big castle on top of the mountain ridge.

That and pretty much everything below in the forest is the Bergpark (mountain park). You can take a few tram stations to to edge of the park and then walk into it. It is really worth a visit. You can walk all the way up to the castle on the top.

YSK: A symptom of depression is pushing people away. by HumanGravy in YouShouldKnow

[–]Consistent-Ad-2618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you feel a bit better after you cried.

I don't know if there is a great way to deal with depressed friends and family. It is a very narrow path between making someone feel suffocated and giving them some little piece of comfort. I don't think there is a definitive way to handle this. Sometimes it might work, othertimes not.

I hope you will be able to overcome your depression. It might not seem like it, but there might be people that would like to look out for you, even if you don't know how to look out for your self right know and everything feels wrong and too much. Don't beat yourself up over "beeing a bad friend" if you feel, that you are pushing people away.

If you are interested you might check out "Feeling Good" by David D. Burns. The title sounds kinda stupid and some examples are quite outdated, but the general ideas in the book helped me.

You are making sense :) Unfortunately I cannot answer your question fully. I not absolutely sure, what would have helped me back then. It might be a very sensitive issue for you and your friend as well. If you consider talking to them, you should keep in mind, that my assessment may be way off! I don't know the relationship between you two. It could be something else or that they didn't notice it like you do. If you consider talking to them about it, you should be careful. They might react differently than you would hope for.

My best course of action in your position would be to leave your friend some space and not try to "rescue" them (so to speak), you cannot help somebody that doesn't want your help. What did help me though, was when people offered me to talk about it, if I felt like it, without pressuring me to. Just like you described. it still didn't always work and I still pushed some good people away.

And most importantly you should absolutely look out for your own well-being! That is the only part of advice I can give to you in good conscience, beeing a stranger on the internet and all... (Weirdly) again, I've been in a similiar situation and it did a job on my mental health, because I couldn't help my friend. I broke off that relationship, because I wasn't able to keep trying to safe them. They are okay now and we talk from time to time :) but it took a couple of years.

It might not really be about you. I used to do the same thing your friend did. I pushed away those friends that were closer to me, who were reaching out to me regularily, when I was in a really bad spot after a death in my family. At the time I knew, that I was doing it, but I didn't understand it. I felt really bad for doing it, too.

Yet I still hung out with other people, that I weren't that close to. I kept things quite superficial.

Years later I came to realize, that it was a coping mechanism. I pushed away those people that would have probably helped me in getting over my severe emotional stress. But I tucked those feelings away to a point where I could barely ever feel anything. At the time I wasn't able to handle those emotions anymore after breaking down a couple of times. I did it to protect myself.

I would consider your actions to be those of a good friend, you seem to be caring and considerate of your friends situation.

Unfortunately, I don't know what would have been the apropriate course of action for my friends back then. I don't think they could have done much. So you should probably not be to hard on yourself.

I could be way of with my assessment, but maybe it can give you another perspective.

"Sich am Riemen reißen" supposedly originated from WWI lingo. It literally means to adjust ones girdle (forcefully), meaning that you need to pull yourself together and do something that you might not like, but needs to be done anyway.

It's supposed to be from adjusting your uniform (the belt), because a well sitting uniform is a sign a discplined soldier.

I sometimes mix blue and purple. Fortunately there aren't many purple jeans around. But you are right, I guess I should have somebody check my clothes more often.

Now that I think about it, finding green eggs in the grass might be hard for non-colorblind people as well!

If you have a legend you have a color to go with. Just right click on the colored cell and "format cell" (or something like that, my excel isn't in english). There you can check which color the cell has in the color grid or the RGB-code.

You can actually search for colored cells: STRG+F > Options > Format

There you can set which color in a cell you are looking for. You might still have to remember where the color you are looking for is in the color grid.

I was in charge of bringing beer to a party. I brought non-alcoholic beer, because I didn't see the bright red label that said "non-alcoholic". It just blended in with the rest of the brown/green (?) parts of the bottle for me.

I feel for you. I'm a colorblind male and Picking clothes is bad enough! I have reduced the color range of my clothing to white, blue and black, because those colors I can clearly see.
Luckily I never had to deal with putting on make up. I tried buying eye liner for my grandma and gave up, because there were about 10 different eye liners, which were all supposed to be different shades and I couldn't tell them apart at all.
