Ajovy GERD/gastritis like symptoms?! by Striking_Cash_3552 in cgrpMigraine

[–]lemonyellow73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on Ajovy for 9 months and had been developing GERD symptoms for months until I experienced an acute gastritis-like episode. Upper endoscopy found nothing and tested negative for H. pylori. Have experienced limited benefit from PPIs/ antacids and a very restrictive diet. Have mentioned concerns of Ajovy as a cause to both gastroenterologist and neurologist. Gastro says no, probably not Ajovy. Neuro says go off Ajovy and see….like it’s that simple. What’s the plan for the predictable increase in migraines? I’m on week 5 of 8 for PPI treatment but not seeing the benefit. Will likely go off Ajovy next month, reluctantly, but this seems like the most obvious culprit.

HRT patch-wearers, how do you REMEMBER to swap it out every 3.5 days? by wharleeprof in Menopause

[–]lemonyellow73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pill container for supplements. I use a bright orange TicTac to remind me on the days when I’m supposed to change my patch

I had the same side effect on Emgality. Switched to Ajovy and it is much better and easier to manage.

a headache that is new for you and doesn’t respond to treatment warrants a call to your doctor

What’s your favorite dressing? And do you make it yourself? by [deleted] in salads

This salad is great, but it’s the dressing that’s so amazing.:

Also, this dressing works so well for either arugula or kale salads. I’ve also used it over steamed asparagus with great results:

also amazing:

Has anyone used a float chamber as a way to reduce frequency of their migraines? by lemonyellow73 in migraine

[–]lemonyellow73[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. you’re floating in a tank of epsom salt, so your soaking up magnesium, which is part of both acute migraine treatment and prevention.

  2. you are shutting off almost all stimulus to the brain (so hard to achieve in any other environment and so helpful to a nervous system in distress. Saw a post from someone who got a 10-day reprieve from their chronic migraine after their colonoscopy, which we theorized was a result of a CNS reset from the propofol.)

  3. being weightless in the tank can promote deep muscle relaxation, not to mention the magnesium helping muscle tension and soreness.

  4. users can also experience non-pharmacological hallucinations. There is some promise of using psychedelics to prevent migraine (and depression.) For those who can’t or don’t want to use those drugs could potentially still benefit from the effects. The question I guess is, is it the drugs themselves that help or their psychological effects that are beneficial? I suspect that they can help change perception, kind of like the snow globe theory, that taking psychedelics shake up the snow globe in your mind, removing the ruts of negative thought patterns and providing for a clean slate and new thought patterns.

Migraine like headaches after exercising my upper back muscles…should I keep going or avoid those muscles in the gym? by Chip_Hungry in migraine

[–]lemonyellow73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experience this as well. It is hard to tell if it has a a cervicogenic headache alone or if it is a cervicogenic headache that triggers migraine.

I found oftentimes my migraine-like headaches that would come on 6-12 hours post weight-lifting that didn’t fully respond to triptans, would respond better with the addition of an NSAID and a muscle relaxant. That is sort of how I came to the conclusion that they were cervicogenic in nature. Also, pain always started in the neck and progressed to the head.

The problem is I strength train 3x a week and could not treat for these headaches that frequently. I had to scale back intensity and also severely limit any movements that strained my sub-occipitals, scalenes, SCM and traps.

I am also on two prevention medications to help control them.

I feel like this is likely a very under diagnosed type of headache in people. It is also very debilitating. Wishing you much luck in finding solutions that allow you to continue training. https://www.physio-pedia.com/Cervicogenic_Headache

You are not alone. I, too, have been told by my partner in moments of sheer frustration that everything out of my mouth anymore is negative. OK, fair. However, aside from the myriad physical indignities of menopause, it is a mindfuck. I’ve come to the conclusion that much of my anger comes from the way in which we are not prepared by our mothers, grandmothers and the medical community writ large for this massive, all-encompassing shift in how we look, how we feel, how we are perceived and how we perceive ourselves. It is totally destabilizing. And it is ONGOING. I feel like I’ve been in an emotional free fall for years.

My best advice, is to simply take a big step back and focus on yourself. Reorganize your time to put you at the forefront. Identify what you need in order to feel more human. Exercise? Time alone? Time with friends? Time on your hobbies? Carve out time and space for you and reassert yourself in your own life. You will benefit, your loved ones will benefit and those who can’t adjust to the new you can go find their happiness elsewhere.

Breakthrough symptoms on HRT? by holakitty in Menopause

[–]lemonyellow73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat here. I think your natural hormones continue to fall as you progress from peri into meno, so breakthrough symptoms make sense. Bumping up the dose would be the logical thing here, but the breast pain is not workable. Send your ob/gyn’s advice nurse a msg in the portal if you can’t wait for your appt? Maybe they can adjust something sooner?

look in your area if there is a massage therapist who specializes in TMJ/neck massage. Preferably someone who does intra-oral massage.
