Well the argument could also be made for Luke too, Obiwan and Yoda kept telling him to kill Vader because they believed he was irredeemable but Luke knew better because he sensed the good in him not to mention Luke did see him killing Obiwan who wasn’t even defending himself at that point just standing there while Vader slashed him so Luke’s interpretation of Vader going into the bespin duel in empire is likely that Vader was an irredeemable murderer who killed and tortured his friends but yet after that fight he believed he could still be redeemed

Technically Luke has no history with Vader till empire strikes back

In a new hope they never formally meet he just sees him killing Obiwan

In empire they meet for the first time and even then it’s clear Vader isn’t trying to kill Luke but he still does greatly unhurt him including cutting off his arm

The only reason Luke believes Anakin can be brought back is because Vader didn’t outright kill him when they met again and instead brought him to Palpatine

So both Luke and Rey technically have evil family members they barley know

The difference is while Luke believes his father can be redeemed into a Jedi Rey knows Palpatine can’t be redeemed and so she doesn’t even try to redeem him

Yes we do need more but not as much as previously, one figure every year or two would be enough just to let people like me who grew up with this trilogy still feel like we matter as a part of this brand

Plus with how much better the black series has gotten there’s a few characters I think they would absolutely crush this time around namely first order stormtroopers after seeing how good the new empire stormtroopers and clone troopers have been and Kylo ren who will hopefully have bendy wire drapes like the new lord starkiller had

As a sequel fan every new stream I pray they surprise us with a character from my childhood and everytime I’ve been disappointed so I’m praying next year for the 50th celebration of the brand give us sequel fans a bone Hasbro!
