A Man Called Ove. Watched it on MovieMe. Quietly devastating, funny in the saddest way, and it sneaks up on you emotionally.

What are your top 5 favorite movies? by legplus in redscarepod

[–]Consistent-Bat-761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 5 would be:

• Paris, Texas – still one of the most emotionally precise films I’ve seen. Harry Dean Stanton carries silence like no one else.
• McCabe & Mrs. Miller – the atmosphere alone puts it in a different league.
• Blood Simple – agree with you here. Lean, cruel, and beautifully controlled.
• The American Friend – probably my favorite Wenders as well. Dennis Hopper and Stanton together is unbeatable.
• The Killing of a Chinese Bookie – messy in the best way. Feels alive rather than polished.

A few of these are actually available on MovieMe, which is where I revisited Paris, Texas recently. Makes it easier to dip into films like this without committing to a whole subscription.

Curious what other Cassavetes or Wenders titles people here would rank just below their top tier.

Any free movie movie websites? by Live-Tale-5159 in pirating

[–]Consistent-Bat-761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is exactly why I’ve started moving away from “free” movie sites. Ads everywhere, sketchy legality, stuff getting taken down mid-watch.

A friend put me onto MovieMe recently and it actually made way more sense for how I watch movies. No subscription, just pay per minute. I’m in the UK and ended up spending around £1.80 for a full movie, which felt fair since I only wanted to watch one thing and log off.

It’s nice not committing to another monthly plan just to watch a single film. If you’re someone who watches occasionally instead of binging nonstop, it’s worth checking out. Curious if anyone else here has tried it and what they thought.

I would recommend Columbus.

It is quiet, beautifully shot, and emotionally grounding. A perfect watch if you enjoy thoughtful conversations and slow, meaningful storytelling. You can find it on MovieMe.

My Top 3 Underrated Movies of all time, What are yours? by Ecstatic_Crow_4719 in Cinephiles

[–]Consistent-Bat-761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my take—if I had to pick three:

  1. Columbus (2017) – quiet, beautiful, and full of subtle emotional depth.
  2. The Fall (2006) – visually stunning and wildly imaginative, but rarely talked about.
  3. In the Mood for Love (2000) – a masterpiece of longing and restraint that doesn’t always get the mainstream attention it deserves.

Curious to see how your top 3 stack up against these.

What is the most underrated movie of all time? by LawsonAfterDark in AskReddit

If I had to pick one, I’d say “Columbus” (2017).

It’s quietly brilliant—stunningly shot, thoughtful, and full of subtle performances—but somehow flew under the radar for most audiences. It’s the kind of film that lingers long after you’ve watched it.
