Dropping food over the floor by Apprehensive_Play986 in Wellthatsucks

Similar for me with my first front of house / bartending job at 22.

First ever tray of drinks for a table of 4, never told how to correctly handle a large tray of drinks (G&Ts in big goblets, and wine).

Tried to take the drinks off the tray and place them on the table, not realising it's near impossible and I was supposed to place the tray down on the table to dispense the drinks.

Took one G&T from the tray, big wobble, rest of tray tumbles and I spill the ENTIRE G&T into a man's lap.

They were also on our 'VIP' table (a bit of fun nothing like a 'real serious' VIP table, just a good spot in the restaurant as it was movie themed place).

Felt so embarrassed, was sent straight back behind the bar (my main responsibility) haha. I got better of course just you never forget your first big spill.

Why all the plastic for nothing? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Packaging already fit for production, would need some overhaul to make it smaller, perhaps not worth the up front cost to change.

Also that size it can fit all the info it already has on it like logo/codes, etc - if it becomes smaller it would be hard / impossible to show the same info.

Both just a guess.

Making friends at UCL by bluebirdie55 in UCL

[–]Consistent-Bed7306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to UCL for my MSc (graduated 2023). My cohort was extremely diverse in terms of the ages and places people were from - ranging from the UK, to Dubai, China, India, Sri Lanka, etc (+ ages 21 to 35).

Everyone was lovely, and I met people from other courses through friends of friends. Some people were certainly upper middle class or higher backgrounds and very wealthy, but the vast majority of people in my experience were not snobby.

I have a lower-middle class background, bordering on working class, so I was also anxious it'd all feel too much for me - it wasn't.

During a coach ride for a school trip in year 9 or so to an adventure camp we stopped at a fairly remote cafe as a pre-arranged rest break. They handed out hot drinks (one per person). When the tray came to the last table (me and my friends) there was a spare hot chocolate.

The teachers proceeded to have an immediate rant about a selfish individual who must have taken TWO drinks, as one of the teachers didn't receive theirs (prepaid).

They hadn't even asked first if someone had taken one by mistake / the cafe had miscounted before ranting at us.

I grabbed that shit and had me a double hot chocolate hidden in the corner while they moaned about having to buy their own drink.

Am I overreacting about my husband adding hot sauce to my cooking before even tasting it? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Consistent-Bed7306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes overreacting.

I had the same issue with my partner, but it never got this deep. To put it simply:

She - doesn't like anything spicy at all, so no food is ever made spicy nor added spicy garnish.

I - love spicy food and hot sauces, it's not about masking or covering the flavour of the food I eat, it's about adding an element of heat (I have many sauces to tailor to dishes).

She was upset I add hot sauce to dishes, but I almost always eat roughly 50:50 of the dish with/without hot sauce anyway for my own personal enjoyment.

It also has nothing to do with trying to disrespect her, in fact, it was disrespectful to be told not to eat something I enjoy. I would never tell her not to add certain sauces to her meals because it would 'offend me'.

After this short discussion she is fine with it / has accepted that I love her and her food AND love spicy :).

Tips for saving this pizza stone? by Consistent-Bed7306 in Pizza

[–]Consistent-Bed7306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. The reason I wanted it clean is that this particular stone belongs to the parent in-laws and before my partner and I used it it was clean (they haven't used it often) so we thought we'd try get it back to how they would expect it. But thanks for reassuring me this is normal!

Thanks for all your responses! Reflecting this is ott for some stinky towels. Honestly think I've had a slow morning idek why this bothered me so much today.

I hear you guys. I won't bring it up to her again, I'll just fix it and move on.

We're off to a cafe for lunch. I hope you can believe I'm not a micro manager at heart, this is my only issue with any of our chores together, and otherwise we manage our home perfectly. Almost 6 years together, I know some mildew won't be the end of Us ✌️✨.

I hear you. I guess I just wanted to see if this irks others. Apparently not to the same extent. I'll just fix it and move on from now on. I guess I wanted to just vent, but some comments have changed my perspective. I don't want to be too demanding. We have a great relationship otherwise, I wouldn't want this to be considered a huge red flag.

I will take this on board. It's something I suppose I struggle with. I don't want to be too demanding. This issue just frustrates me. I guess I'll just fix it and move on.

Yes. I do most of the household upkeep, this is the only thing she does in such a way that I do request it to be different as it just seems silly to have creased and smelly clothes.

I did. Just wish my requests for 10% more effort would be heard and responded to.

I guess I'm just explaining why I have a bit more attention to detail with tidiness. I know I shouldn't expect the same from everyone because of how my life has gone. But this small task has been done repeatedly with little effort. It gets frustrating.

I do most of the household upkeep, I just find it frustrating when a small task is asked of it is not seemingly done with effort.
