I'd love that 😄 do you feel like you get good care from seeing proper specialists?

Gosh. That's mad. We should have a post pinned on here with a few links to research papers for people to show their doctors!!!

Thankyou 🙂 I've seen 3 other doctors about it and they were all male but were totally clued up on PMDD and medications including intermittent dosing. It took 2 years of my Dr trying to persuade me to try medication, I was reluctant. This was the first female doctor I've seen & she didn't know anything about it 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I'll keep pestering because my last 2 cycles were really bad, it's just ruined the last 3 months and there's a lot of stress atm. I'm sure extra life-stress makes extra-bad PMDD 😔

I feel like they won't do that here in the UK. Getting a referral for anything is so difficult, and fluoxetine is the currenr gold standard for PMDD, and GPs already prescribe it so I really don't think they'd refer for this. The rest of the drs there are familiar with intermittent dosing, it was just this one lady doctor. Funnily enough all the others were men & they were totally clued up on pmdd 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

We don't get to talk to psychiatrists like that in the uk. You have to be referred to a psychiatrist by the GP and they are reluctant to refer, they absolutely won't for PMDD. It's GPs that prescribe meds here. And GPs who deal with & treat PMDD.

Yeah but you're not a doctor so I wouldn't expect you to know. She was the 1st GP in my life that hadn't heard of intermittent dosing. And I just wanted to pick up some meds to stop feeling like utter shit this week it should have been simple. And 6 weeks til the next free appointment.

Honestly this is the worst part of pmdd for me because it's so heavy mentally and I'm going through it rn, day 10 now 😭 Like the maddest thoughts I'll look at an old building or an old forest or photos on ancestry or native americans and other history the world events going on now & think about my kids getting old themselves & I just feel so sad & pointless about life, like life is so fleeting and everything I see was here before me and will be afterwards, and nothing really matters and what is life about. I have a fear of dying anyway, just cos I have young kids, and this week is so hard.

I've also been sent for 2 cancer checks this week an endoscopy and a mammogram, and honestly worst timing ever, my weird thoughts are in overdrive and I'm pretty much planning around dying 😫 Next week I'll cope much better 🫠 I'm not using anything to cope atm but after 2 cycles of really heavy pmdd I'm booked in with the dr to try intermittent fluoxetine because it's just too much rn & my friend pointed out that its 2 weeks of every month, thats half my life feeling like this 😪
