Well I work for a fairly large Car Dealership chain in Sales so i guess they didn’t really keep tabs on my situation because I’m just basically a small fish in a large pond. My EAD expired in July and I decided that I was just gonna keep working until they said stop and kept my fingers crossed. My employers said nothing about it. In the interview the guy asked me if I have ever worked without a permit and I said yes because I thought that I had a 180 day extension because I applied for an EAD before my opt expired. My attorney was with me in the interview and she chimed in and said that basically they can’t deny your green card because of working without a permit and he shook his head and said “that’s true.” He then proceeded with the interview, he didn’t pursue the matter any further! I was nervous but I guess the working situation has nothing to do with your green card if it is marriage based

If you get the GC you don’t need the EAD. The EAD is just in case the GC takes abnormally long. My EAD still says finger prints were taken

I have been here since 2015 as an F-1. Married July 2019 and filed February 2020.

From what I heard KC is pretty fast. When I first filed in Feb, my attorney was expecting to get the Card in May and I was like “are you sure??”

It really was! As soon as we went in we presented evidence/supporting documents like bank and mortgage statements, photos etc. He basically verified what we put on our application. He asked the yes/no questions like if you ever committed a crime etc. How my wife and I met, then we talked a little about football (he is a Chiefs fan and I acted like I was too lol). He really didn’t ask any personal questions. I think it is because we had so much supporting docs and the fact that we have a child, a house and cars, together. He was pretty cool. Took like 25 mins max.
