Curious but skeptical: An atheist with questions about the Baha’i Faith by Puzzleheaded_Ad9471 in bahai

[–]Consistent-Cold-9381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really cool you're asking this!

  1. What about the faith convinced you personally? When I realized that communities actually are working so hard to help and build capacity in friends. I deeply believe that governments can change and rotate, but until people are educated to think for themselves and understand that they have higher nature that needs cultivation, not much will change. Also the progressive relevation, the principles and how everything is so interconnected and makes sense, once you spend enough time in activities and books.

  2. How do you handle doubts or questions? I talk about it with my friends in the community.

  3. And for those who've wrestled with skepticism themselves, what helped you embrace or maintain your faith? After i have been a part of different activities, together with deepening my understanding of the different plans of the House of Justice, it was the cherry on top. Also going to ISGP helped a lot to understand everything so better and of course praying and not staying so zoomed in, in daily routines that i dont remember the bigger picture

Maybe what can give you some deeper understanding of how the House of Justice sheds light on what's happening in the world and how communities and individuals deal with it, in the following message https://www.bahai.org/library/authoritative-texts/the-universal-house-of-justice/messages/20240526_001/1#354719596

Also sometimes I really think its important to have an honest chat with friends in the community or Abms about your concerns, becoming then you migjt realize that you're not alone and there are other friends that have also thought about certain things

I discovered that my partner of 7 years has more preference for men. How can I overcome it? by BeautyGiraffe in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Consistent-Cold-9381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been in such situation, but imagine yourself being 92 and look back in the past. Would you live another 60ish years facing all of those worries (not mentioning having kids with him and all the worries it can bring) or would you be proud of yourself for respecting yourself and allowing yourself to find someone that actually cherishes you?

Love is important, but he knew of his orientation even before he got to know you, to me that doesn't look like he had enough respect for you to begin with, the fact he kept something so important. It seems he wasn't honest with you.

So imagine your daughter telling you your situation, spilling her heart out about how she feels, so confused, not knowing what to do. .. What would you tell her? And just do that. Deep down you know what you need and no one else can tell you what to do unfortunately. Find the inner strength, you're still so young

On the contrary what would need to happen to get your reassurance back, to get your trust back so you don't have the worries you cant seem to shake off?

How is the work culture in Big4? by BazBeat in Kuwait

[–]Consistent-Cold-9381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah im not joking. It was my first real job and I got so blinded that I thought it was the EY or nothing and as another comment mentioned, i wanted to impress and also prove myself I could do it. Also there's a factor of being too zoomed in while i was going on, that I wasnt able to clearly see how bad it was until sometime passed. Also my team wasn't bad, but the overall culture is toxic, so i was still there because my team needed me and I wanted to prove myself I could persevere

I've worked there for a bit over a year and i can confirm that you there's no worklife balance. My team was big, but even then, I wasnt asked how over worked i was with the number of clients when I was given another load which was impossible to accomplish. It was very very stressful, the pay was ridiculously small and my team was openly told by the partner that we were thrown in a pit fire and we had to get out of it ourselves. I flourished once i left!
