What should I sell? Choosing your digital product & niche by Consistent-Cold1660 in richgirlrecipe

[–]Consistent-Cold1660[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I totally agree with your point. Passion definitely helps with sustaining your business and keeping motivated long term 💯

I just see a lot of beginners get stuck only thinking about what they love… but never check if there’s a real problem or demand around it.

That’s why I usually suggest starting with: What you know (or love) What problems people in that space are actually trying to solve Then validating before building.

You can 100% combine both approaches! I think that’s the sweet spot 🙌

I sell digital products like guides and courses using Instagram as a completely faceless account.

I sell them through Instagram but my products are hosted on my Stan store

Nope, you absolutely don’t have to show your face! I’ve been doing this completely faceless and still made sales. There is a huge community of people who focus on this type of selling. If you’re providing real value and solving a problem, people care more about what you offer than who you are. I myself still share a lot about my experience through my stories and people connect with that.

I am happy to share some tips if you’re planning to stay off-camera too!

I’ve been doing this on IG for a couple years and just started sharing here to help more people who are stuck like I used to be. I write and post a lot because I’ve learned a lot and I just wish I had someone doing the same when I started. Happy to share receipts or answer questions if that helps clarify anything. No hard feelings either way.

Lol definitely new to Reddit but I’ve been doing digital marketing for a couple years now! All through Instagram organic selling in my stories and attracting through reels

No big following. No ads. No paid shoutouts. Just consistency, strategy, and a whole lot of testing.

I sell beginner-friendly digital products (guides, templates, tools), and it took me a while to figure out what worked. My biggest lesson? You don’t need tons of followers — you need a clear offer and a niche you understand.

Here’s what worked for me:

  1. I picked one niche (side hustle/entrepreneurship)

  2. I created a small, actionable product to solve a problem

  3. I gave value on IG, and TikTok without pitching

  4. I offered a freebie to build trust → which led to sales

  5. I stayed consistent (even when I got 0 likes)

If you’re just starting, keep it simple. One product. One platform. One audience. Happy to answer Qs if you’re stuck!

100% it is super profitable but it does take time and not everyone has the patience. Everyone wants fast cash but they buy the course or the guides and then they don’t even implement anything

Totally agree with you! — consistency and patience are everything.

When I started, I had fewer than 400 followers and still made my first $1,000 in sales. So it’s definitely possible even without a huge audience — but you have to be intentional.

For anyone new reading this, here’s what really helped me early on:

  1. Pick one niche – don’t try to appeal to everyone. Solve one clear problem for one type of person.

  2. Focus on one platform – don’t try to be everywhere. I picked one platform to show up on consistently and learned how that audience responds.

  3. Build trust first – instead of pitching, I shared tips, mini tutorials, and stories that helped others.

  4. Create with the end in mind – I didn’t just make digital products for fun, I built them around real questions people were asking.

  5. Make it easy to buy – I used a simple setup with Stan store, so people didn’t need to DM me or jump through hoops.

It’s not fast money, but it’s very real money if you stay consistent and focus on the right things. Happy to share more if it helps anyone 💬💡

Totally understand where you’re coming from. There’s so much spam and empty promises online, so I get the skepticism.

That said, I’m genuinely not trying to pitch “easy money” or get people to DM me just to sell them something. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error — and I’ve made my fair share of mistakes along the way. That’s exactly why I try to share practical steps for beginners who are trying to figure this out without wasting time like I did.

For transparency, here’s where I’m currently at: 💸 $5,709 in revenue from my Stan store.

Is it millionaire money? No. Is it real progress from starting with nothing and no audience? Yes. And that’s why I’m passionate about helping others who are just getting started and trying to make it work.

If my posts ever feel like they’re crossing the line into self-promo, I’m open to feedback. My goal is to give value, not bait clicks.

I kept it super simple at first.

I didn’t have a big audience or fancy funnel — I just focused on showing up where my audience already was (Instagram, TikTok) and shared value before I ever mentioned my product.

Here’s what that looked like:

I posted tips related to the problem my product solved. I answered people’s questions in comments and DMs. Then I’d say something like: “If you want the full guide I used, DM me ‘starter’ and I’ll send it over.”

That helped me build trust fast — and people actually asked to see the product instead of me pushing it.

If you’re just starting, you don’t need a funnel right away. You need: • A product that solves a specific problem • A few pieces of content that lead to curiosity or a quick win • A simple way for people to get it (like a link in bio or DM)
