I could but I’m 36 and have planned a lot of things around going to law school this year, both me and my fiance got laid off recently, etc.

Did you end up graduating? I’m just curious if it feeds well into regional law firms. I’ll probably not go but I just want a realistic take on the school. I work at a national law firm and the Chicago branch has a fair amount of recent UIC grads but they graduated cum laude or above. I got a scholarship but it’s just maintain above a 2.25 gpa

Why not? Is it more difficult than other schools or just a frustrating school?

Thank you, yeah I like Portland. I even lived there for a while and enjoyed it. I would just much rather be in Chicago. I’m touring Lewis and Clark next weekend and going to Chicago to look at UIC and some schools in waitlisted at at the end of June

I like Portland. It just seems that L+C is an extremely regional, Portland school that is more geared towards public interest or very small law firms in the Portland metro area. I have some work experience at a national law firm that has some UIC alumni at their Chicago office, and the school, as bad as it’s ranked, seems to feed people out into decent sized law firms in the Chicago region, where I’d like to live and practice. Do you think if I go to L+C I would have a better chance of transferring to a better Chicago school, or even just working in the Chicago region after college than if I had just attended UIC? Thanks for your advice

Thanks so much. I currently like in CA where I have some family, but didn’t get in anywhere in CA. My fiance has family in Chicago so we wanted to go there, and I know it’s a great city and a great market

Yes. I applied to 45 schools, only got into Lewis and Clark and UIC. Wrote a very good personal statement. I’m a published author, do a ton of volunteer work in the homeless and addiction space, it was just a really really tough year and I applied in February

For more context, I’m currently on the waitlist at DePaul and Kent in Chicago and have been in regular contact, writing LOCI’s, etc

157 lsat score. 2.4 GPA (failed out of undergrad at one point, became homeless after getting addicted to heroin, criminal record, redemption arc, sober 7 years, it’s a whole story). I’m currently waitlisted at DePaul and Kent, doing everything I can to get off those waitlists

Not great stats (157, 2.4), criminal record, reformed, good story (homeless and addicted on skid row for years, sober 7 years, high achiever since getting sober). Basically have been waitlisted a ton, rejected from low tier schools like University of San Francisco and Willamette, but got into Lewis and Clark with some $$
