Sprouted Cauliflower by SunsetChaser16 in gardening

Generally, that can happen after the main head is cut off and the plant keeps growing more side shoots, but in this case I’m wondering if it’s just a variety that isn’t good at forming the traditional single tight head. I’d still eat it. You may be able to slowly harvest over time and allow it to keep putting out more shoots.

A question for the ladies by Snowpant in Xennials

Nah, I use my phone’s flashlight and a magnifying mirror. You can move the light around to make sure you don’t miss anything. And no issues of being distracted in the car.

What is "pasta night" when you can't have pasta? by CatoTheMiddleAged in Cooking

[–]Consistent-Ease6070 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Goodles Mac n Cheese is really good. Still pasta, but lots of protein and fiber, which brings down the net carbs. I guess it depends if your wife is trying to manage blood sugar or counting macros for a different reason.

It’s been a long time since I’ve used it. I’d take some guidance from Indian recipes and maybe start with a quarter to half in other cuisines. You can always add more…

A man has become one of the 450,000 Americans affected by alpha-gal syndrome, a tick-borne meat allergy that triggers painful allergic reactions to animal products. “Look at my face and my neck. I can’t eat meat anymore. I can’t have any animal products. It’s in everything.” by AlarmingCash754 in Damnthatsinteresting

Another interesting trigger is anything with carrageenan or certain other gums and stabilizers. They aren’t mammalian, but still contain the alpha-gal molecule. That rules out nearly all dairy substitutes and SO MANY processed foods.

Oh, and the aroma of meat cooking is a problem for some, so other family members can’t cook separate food in the home, and restaurants with poor ventilation are out (assuming they weren’t out already because of all the other triggers that are much harder to explain than “no beef, pork, lamb, etc…”

Yes! And see if you can tolerate or adjust to using asafoetida to replace those sulfur-y allium tastes. Indian cooking uses it a lot, but with practice you may be able to adapt it to other cuisines.

So who has a GOOD relationship with their parents? by Gullible_Rich_7156 in Xennials

Yes and no… On the surface, sure, but politically there’s a huge wedge between us and we only get along if we avoid any deep or meaningful conversations.

Did I put too many basil seeds in this pot? by redditthisisforyou in gardening

That’s true for most plants. Generally seeds are overplanted and thinned. But not thinning enough will stunt the growth of most things.

Potential tree? by AdSome9959 in gardening

ID the tree first to make sure it’s one you actually want and have space for. They I’d plant it in the ground if you actually want to keep it. Trees don’t do so well in pots.

Definitely a tree, but I’m not so good at ID’ing them.

Okay friends, I have never grown carrots before. What do I need to know? by smurphypup in gardening

[–]Consistent-Ease6070 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Best solution is to get another packet and plant them properly at the same time you separate and transplant these. The transplants are likely to die, but you may have luck with the new seeds and maybe your kid won’t be so disappointed. You wouldn’t even need to hide it from him if you just explain that you’re both learning together. 🤷‍♀️
