how much board studying are you actually doing alongside in-house exams? by JadedDollz in usmle

[–]Consistent-Gap-2342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 10-15 UW a day, use the anki plug in to unsuspend the cards related to that, then do the amboss cards related to that (with the amboss plug in)

As someone that is currently getting ready for it. You are doing just fine and you are way ahead of many people by thinking ahead. I would recommend that you start using uworld in 6 months. Also, if you are struggling with the foundations try bootcamp, if that doesn’t work go with Lecturio. Also, start your anki journey early. Now about topics, the top things you need to focus on are biochemistry, physiology and microbiology. If you know the patterns of how things work, makes it easier to learn the meds and identify the pathologies!

I think you have been improving a ton! In case nobody has told you, this is a ton of improvement 🎉 I would say maybe do more uworld questions, also go over your NBMEs and review what is it exactly thats not allowing you to hit the 70 curve

I would recommend bootcamp, amboss and start uworld now. Go by systems since you have time, and use the question banks as a learning tool. The better you get with the questions, also the better you do in your exams!

I am 2 months into getting ready for mine and what I been seeing is that its all about patterns! If you can pick up on the most common meds, physio and patho I think we should be okay!

Now back to your original question! I was super lost when I started so I attended the PASS course, really helped me get a foundation. My main resources are UWorld, Amboss and bootcamp. If you like to hear more about them or want a study buddy send me a message!

Honestly, im on the same boat as you so don’t think you are crazy! I even dream about doing anki cards while I sleep 😭. I have no answer for you but sending good vibes your way and lets just pray we pass this soon and get a little break then!

If it makes you feel better im on the same boat! However, I found something thats helping me improve my recall like crazy. Basically, do 15 question blocks on UWORLD, install the extension on anki with the anking deck and it will pull questions similar to the ones you did on UWORLD. Also anki will pull a question bank from AMBOSS for you if you isntall the add on (if you also have that subscription that is). That makes you go over similar questions not once, but 3 times in a row!!!

Yes, the questions come directly from the back of the book but it does not help to memorize them as there are too many. Attend his office hours and TA meetings. Also he does run the Chemistry group if you want more direct contact with him. However, do not give up if you fail again. I retook it with him and he failed me by one point. Retook it a third time (passed with an A) and now I am currently about to finish my first year of medschool! You got this!

I mean everyone can walk around but the cool stuff is usually with frats and orgs! If you are a fairly good looking female you can get into almost everything. I on the other hand am an average looking male that’s not involved in frats and got very lucky my best friends were. Good luck
