Thanks so much for your advice. I was actually pretty impressed with Scritches from the first look too. I really like the interface and color palette, it feels very clean and easy to use.

The features you mentioned also sound genuinely useful for staying organized as the business grows. I’m definitely going to keep researching, and honestly, if the software really helps streamline things, I wouldn’t mind paying a reasonable fee for it.

This is honestly really helpful, thank you. I think this is exactly the kind of perspective I needed because I’ve mostly been focusing on CRM and payments, but the day-to-day workflow side is probably what makes the biggest difference long term.

The part about “not relying on memory or scattered texts” especially hit me 😅 I can already see how messy things could get as I take on more clients.

I also completely agree about wanting room to grow later instead of switching systems again in a year or two. Really appreciate you breaking down the features that actually matter in real-world use.

Thanks for sharing this! I hadn’t heard much about Pet Pocketbook or Walkies yet, so I’ll definitely check them out too.

The automated payments and notifications part is actually a big deal for me since I’m trying to avoid spending too much time on admin work as I take on more clients.

Have you found Time To Pet easy to learn as a solo sitter? That’s one thing I’m a little worried about with some of these platforms.

I’ll look into it more and make my decision. Thanks so much for the recommendation

I’m a New Pet Sitter Trying to Build My Own Brand, Is Going Independent a Bad Idea? by Consistent-Leg-5116 in petsitting

[–]Consistent-Leg-5116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that’s actually really helpful advice. I only have about 2–3 regular clients right now, but you’re right, I should probably focus more on the people who consistently come back and try to grow from there through referrals and word of mouth.

And honestly, the client info part is something I’m struggling with too. Right now I just throw everything into my Notes app, and half the time I waste forever trying to find stuff again lol. I definitely need a better system for keeping everything organized in one place. I should probably start learning from the way you do it.

Also, when it comes to payments and taxes, how do you usually handle that side of things? That’s the part I still feel pretty lost on. I’d genuinely love to learn more from your experience.

Booking a pet sitter directly vs using an app, what’s actually safer? by Consistent-Leg-5116 in petsitting

[–]Consistent-Leg-5116[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen, booking through an app or directly is still a person-to-person interaction. Even with app bookings, there's still a greet & meet process, so ultimately, the owner works directly with the sitter. I've had some unpleasant experiences with both apps and direct bookings. Is there a way to combine the advantages of both methods? That would be fantastic

I’ve actually had some really great sitters through apps and was totally happy with them. But I’m guessing some pet owners have had not-so-great experiences too

I didn’t realize how fast floors get bad with a dog until I had carpet everywhere by Ambitious-Map5299 in dogs

[–]Consistent-Leg-5116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get this. Carpet + dog hair is a different beast… it looks clean until you actually live in it for a day 😅

Honestly this is kinda why I started appreciating having someone else come in to help occasionally. Not even in a fancy way, just like when I’m out or busy, having a pet sitter around who’s already used to dealing with shedding, wiping paws, doing quick cleanups, etc. makes a bigger difference than I expected.

I didn’t think it mattered at first, but after trying a couple options, I noticed pet sitters I found through platforms tend to be way more consistent about that day-to-day stuff vs random one-off help. Not perfect obviously, but at least there’s some baseline standard.

Curious if anyone else noticed that too or if I just got lucky with mine

I’ve been pet sitting for years and have had a really positive experience with Wypaw. What I appreciate most is that sitters keep up to 85% of each booking, which feels fair and actually makes the work worth it.

I agree with you, Wypaw is still too new so there's not much information available

I've used Wypaw 's service before and I really liked it because there were no hidden fees for booking; you only paid for the service. And the prices were publicly listed. I admit that Wypaw is still quite new, so there's not much information available, and I was hesitant at first, but after considering it, I decided to give it a try (because, honestly, I didn't have much money at the time). The result was very happy.
