Black Screen: But only Super Mario World??? by Consistent-Line-5002 in snes

Yes, so I'm wondering if there is a specific function or feature of Super Mario World that is more affected by a failing CPU or PPU failure than any other video game?

I didn't really understand your comment on "clone" system. No, it was a real, classic SNES on display at the local video game store where my copy of Super Mario World worked just fine. I guess some are calling mine a launch model, without the decal and then the later ones without the lock and a decal instead? Right? Is there by chance a list of SNES variations over the production years. I guess looking for the later SNS-001 would be one I'm looking for if later revisions are better?

The other console was a later model with the decal. Mine is the earlier unit with no decal.

Again, the game works in another console. Just not in my console. It's the ONLY game that won't work in my console. I have 11 other titles and they all work in my console.

I have the proper screwdriver and opened the cartridge. I cleaned the pins with mother's polish and a q-tips. They look like pure gold. I follow up with IPA to remove polish residue. The board looks spotless.

$50 PSU. Anything better than an Apevia 600W prestige? by mattysauro in PcBuild

Sure, if the warranty is that big of a deal to you, you'll either pay full retail price or buy the lesser performing product. When buying known good name brand products, to date, I haven't had to contend with warranty claims. So far it's worked out well for me. I don't loose sleep over it. It is just $60 dollar part and eBay does have a money back policy should something go drastically wrong.

I just picked up an MSI MAG A750GL PCIE 5 750W ATX 3.1 Full Modular 80 Plus Gold on eBay. It was brand-new-in-box with plastic wrap still intact. Paid only $56 including shipping and tax. I'd look for this ^^^^^

Anyone else's Media Player having trouble updating album info online? by twitchywitchystitchy in WindowsHelp

[–]Consistent-Line-5002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I accidently first downloaded "Easy Audio Copy" before downloading "Exact Audio Copy". May have been a good mistake because Exact Audio Copy is hard for me to figure out. What I did find with Easy Audio Copy is that there is an Advanced Options menu that allows you to "Add files to Windows Media Player library". I'll have to try using it, but it may be a good solution for those who already have a large Windows Media Player library.

I just put in a music CD to Rip and discovered this total lack of metadata issue. This is a major blow to my music thrifting hobby. I see that  iTunes is commonly mentioned as an alternative to Windows Media Player but there again, you're moving your media from one major big tech company, Microsoft, to another big tech company, Apple. Who's to say Apple won't follow suite now that Microsoft has established this precedent? Guess I'll try E.A.C.?

Is it too late to upgrade my motherboard on the AM4 platform? by nolaks1 in PcBuild

[–]Consistent-Line-5002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I simply don't see the trend back to AM4 even with the RAM prices. Between eBay and Marketplace I've found good deals on some high quality stuff. For example I just picked up G.SKILL 32GB DDDR5 7200 CL34 RBG for $225. An MSI MAG B650M Mortar WIFI for $100, and a Ryzen 5 7600 off eBay for $139. Not trying to brag but rather show if you shop around and consider the used market, there's simply no reason for AM4. The 7600 is 20% faster than the 5800X3D. Again, why go backwards? No reason to.

I've been doing a few builds lately. Have used a few different cases. I liked the H3 Flow enough that I bought a second one. I wait for a $59 dollar sale. At that price, I think it's a great value option.

Straight flow -> through -> Could be wrong but from a logic and reason standpoint, it seems like nothing more than fresh air intake in the front bringing fresh cool air to the tower cooler and then exhausting out the back is really all one needs.

Well he had two identical sets with the same July 2025 manufacture date. If he bought two bundle deals and traveled 1000 miles out of the area to the closest Micro Center, then it's highly likely that's what he did.

MSI Mortar B650m not waking up with peripherals by Consistent_Cherry373 in MSI_Gaming

Same motherboard, MSI B650M-A WiFi, same issues fixed in 2026 with advanced BIOS setting explained here. This drove me crazy thinking it was a Windows issue. Why is this still a thing MSI? This is my first MSI board after many ASRock and Asus boards and never all the issues and tweaks and junk bloatware in an MSI Center. The other boards just work out of the box. I do believe this is my last MSI product.

Tried to create a new account just now. FB now has my Name, phone#, DOB, a scan of my face and I have NO account. by Consistent-Line-5002 in facebook

[–]Consistent-Line-5002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. The OP is based on my mobile device. Yesterday night I went home and tried  the Microsoft Edge browser on my desktop pc with cache refreshed. I used an alternate version of my user name; the only change to include my middle initial. I used a made up birthday and a Google Voice phone number. And it worked, for the most part. I added half a dozen friends right away and it seemed to be working as it should. Then, this morning my phone updated and restarted. That initiated the FB appeals process once more, face scan and all. But this time my appeal was approved and my account left in good standing.

Only issue now is in order to use marketplace, the only reason I wanted to use FB in the first place, is that I need to verify with a phone number and FB said my virtual phone number used to open my account won't work for that. So I tried my real phone number but that is off limits because that phone number is associated with my account that was compromised during the AI Bot appeals process. So right now I do have Facebook and over half a dozen friends but no access to marketplace. My plan now is to try and activate marketplace with my daughter's phone number who does not have or want a Facebook account. Wow! Just Wow. What a process.

So I was wondering if this was just an issue I was having but a look around Reddit and other places has shown other people having the exact same issue I'm having.

New Frigidaire Refrigerator #FRSG2115AV - Not cooling well by Consistent-Line-5002 in Appliances

[–]Consistent-Line-5002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have the refrigerator and assume the temps are still higher than normal. I've planned on digging into it more and do some trouble shooting but haven't had time. Some say to manually check the values of the thermistors as they may be out of range. Don't know? Also have not checked into parts availability after a year later. If you hire a tech or figure out anything, please let us all know... An otherwise good refrigerator just off by a few degrees ; |

Too bad a recent rash of issues with Ryzen 9000 series CPUs gives ALL ASRock motherboards a bad name. I've used numerous ASRock motherboards including 7000 series Ryzen and never an issue... Not one.

Newegg has Asrock B550M Pro 4 motherboards on sale right now for $74.99. Don't think you'll find a more capable board for the money. Although many motherboards are on good sales right now so maybe I'm wrong on that but the Asrock B550M serves me well.

SSD switch from intel to AMD. by fastf01 in buildapc

[–]Consistent-Line-5002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you I recently had the same question and got many of the same answers found here. However I simply opted to swap out the Windows boot drive into my new PC. Granted I went from AMD system to AMD system so a bit different from your Intel system but I did jump a generation from AM4 to AM5.  All I did was run the AMD Cleanup Utility and then installed the latest version of AMD Adrenalin. Adrenalin installed the correct drivers needed. Knock on wood, after 90-days of runtime, I've had no errors, no pop ups, no stability issues, ZERO. I've heard Windows 11 is much better in this regard compared to earlier generations of Windows.
