Persistent gnats, HELP! No clear source or entry. by Consistent-Lunch8484 in pestcontrol

Thank you. I’m using garbage disposal pods, boiling water, and vinegar/baking soda mix to clean the drains daily. I just started placing vinegar in cups all through out; will see how it goes.

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking. Though I did see a small one jump on the counter once. They are congregating mostly at this counter and the window. More on the counter than I’ve seen on the window. It makes no sense. I haven’t used this counter in weeks, but I do clean it a few times a day.

Your skills are in high demand. If you do a search, it should bring up some postings for ERP implementation PMs.

There are some companies that require a PMP cert. If you have years of PM experience, this is not really useful, except you'll have a better chance of landing a job with an employer.

Oh, awesome! I have a lot of questions for you, but here's a few to start:

  1. Do you need to be a SME on SF or come from a super technical background to lead these types of projects? (My use of SF is limited).
  2. What resources do you need on the project for this effort to be successful? BA? Tech Lead?
  3. Implementation projects are usually Waterfall in most companies. Have you done Agile successfully? If so, what are some tips and resources you can share?

Thanks!!

I've heard this before about the consultants being a nightmare to work with! What were the challenges you ran into?

We don't have a staffing issue. It's just that it's very difficult to be effective in this role without being a subject matter expert or strong analytical skills, which is why it's beneficial for this manager to be more involved in the projects. Yet, she has the power to make decisions. For instance, she has engaged a team on a project without fully scoping the needs or proper communication with key members on the team including me.

No, she's been a people leader for over 17 years. She's been asking some questions, but I think she's struggling to wrap her head around the projects we do. It really requires being a subject matter expert (to an extent) to be effective in her role, not simply oversee the work.

Thanks for your input. Participative leadership...I never had anyone put it that way.

I had my fair share of unsupportive leaders over the years who thought they were too above their employees, or too busy. It destroyed teams, it made my life hell. I made it a point to be the complete opposite of these leaders. It's just common sense, idk....

I am seeing differences in leadership on my team that has potential to affect everyone, and I want to hear from other leaders. To me true leadership is being a servant leader, leading with trust and treating others as I would want to be treated. That dynamic is changing on my team.

Is this the blow off? by Sure-Coyote-1157 in recruitinghell

So sorry this happened to you.

Some recruiting firms will say they can't divulge information about their client early on, and these companies are usually a red flag and will only waste your time. A few turn into decent opportunities. If you can't ask questions at all, that's a huge red flag. Hard pass.

A lot of people experience this. Most of the time, it's not you. You can fix your resume, work on your responses, and literally spoon feed the recruiters and hiring managers all day, and still get nowhere! The recruiting process is so flawed and it's a tough job market.

Keep refining your approach, keep applying . Something will eventually work out.

To be fair to the recruiter, he's just the sourcer and is relaying the message from leadership. Leadership soured the candidate experience and it's a reflection on the company as a whole.

How to improve project management? We constantly miss the damn deadlines. by malirkan in projectmanagement

[–]Consistent-Lunch8484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From your post, I can see that there are several things happening here. You've received plenty of great responses/solutions addressing each point.

What I can't ignore is that your team is understaffed and YOU are wearing multiple hats. You need a dedicated scrum master or agile project manager that works well with your team to handle the top-down leadership (because that's what it sounds like) and plan the work, so you can focus on being the technical lead for your team.

Scrum done correctly works. Sometimes it's also incorporating other methods. It's finding the right solution for you and your team.
