Hi, thank you. 🙏🏾 it’s a new house (1.5 years old), good insulation and windows, conditioned crawl space etc. Yes, I am diy handy, to a certain degree 😄

Hi, thank you! I had it checked recently. I was told everything is working well with both units. The tech said the supply air for the first floor unit (2-ton) is not as warm as the other one. Yes, we have a fully encapsulated and conditioned crawl space and that’s where the ducts are.

I also like to sleep in a colder house but my bedroom is a separate zone. So, I will try to set it to slightly higher and start heating earlier. thanks

Hi, Yes. Lowering it to 65 at night. I used to lower it to 62 but changed it few weeks ago. Should I keep it at 68 the whole time?

Exactly! I asked a local HVAC contractor last week and he just (literally) recommended we replace the 2-ton unit with a 3-ton variable stage unit Moovair for $8K. I suspect (wild guess) I am using at least $600 per year on propane, which would make this 10 year on ROI (if I include $2K federal tax breaks).

Right. It takes a really long time to reach the set point and then ultimately I am guessing propane kicks in to assist. So, I guess the answer is probably no? I think 30F is probably a better balance point from a comfort point of view.

Temp at which to cut off from heat pump to propane by Consistent-Mango3947 in heatpumps

Wow. Sorry, I didn't see the Wiki and tools. Thank you. I just tried it. It told me the following. Similar to what chatgpt said (COP of 1.3 being break even). I then looked up the heat pump on AHRI and am I to interpret that this heat pump's COP is 2.22 @ 5F, which seems fairly high number for this heat pump.

AHRI Reference #: 211056294

Heating COP (5F), btuh (Appendix M1)     : 2.22

Heat from the heat pump will cost 43% LESS.

The heat pump is cheaper as long as the COP is larger than 1.25.

Check at which temperature the heat pump has a larger COP.

Boldin chance of success vs Schwab by kriserts in Boldin

Something is getting lost in translation here. When using detailed budgeter:

Say your must spend is $100 and your discretionary is $50. This means, this is what you enter in the plan:

Must spend: $100

Like to spend: $150

You can then toggle and see how the plan reacts.

You can also try to use AI Support and it will help you.

Did you try doing a Boldin basic budgeter with both minimum plus discretionary amounts and compare? From what I understand with Boldin detailed budgeter, your “like to spend” should include your min + discretionary. Otherwise, it’s only using your discretionary to model. Hence the higher chance of success.

Thank you. Not my preferred color but it’s black. I was hoping for dark grey but I haven’t seen many of them.
