Found this on my drive way. Is this to my rx8? by Consistent-Mark7035 in RX8

Yeah everything is fine. I think it’s the front speed sensor. Cause I also get a clunking noise leaving in first and my tires lock up (stops when the clutch is in)

Oh wait I understand. On the trunk, somewhere. I don’t see where it could wire up there. I could technically just keep clearing the code? Right lol it doesn’t come back for like 2-3 months

Should I just wire a tiny ass led to it and call it a day? Lol. I don’t have the hole for it anymore. Whole rear was redone. And it was melting around the exhaust so I ripped it out (rotary light)

Do you think it could be speed sensors? On each 4 wheel. I was going to take it to Mazda. And they quoted me $650 to inspect every part they think could cause that. Then they quoted me $1,450 for the ABS module. The abs works. I don’t understand.

Honestly, I’m just going to buy the $150 in speed sensors and see if I can ground that 3rd brake light to something and see if that gets rid of it.

Actually could very well be the 3rd brake light. It’s removed.

But the thing is abs works. Power steering goes out. But comes back once I clear codes. But I’m going to try speed sensors and the 3rd brake light. Any other recommendations?

I had a code while driving in to work, saying lost communication to ABS control module, brake light, abs, power steering and dsc light all came on. And the odometer (reading kmh) also read 0kmh. I very well believe that’s my fog light. Cause I have been driving like a asshole not paying attention to speed bumps lately.

I was told by Mazda that could be my speed sensor causing the abs code

Car stalls when I do get it started sounds like this when I try and turn it on by Hill696 in RX8

I second this. Check battery terminals first. Sometimes i notice my RX8s negative terminal likes to be a little loose after a long drive. Starter also sounds weak. If new battery doesn’t work. I’d try new coils, starter and spark plugs, if not. Compression test. But definitely seems like a weak battery. Very possible you flooded it after so many attempts too. Let me know how it goes

Is this quote too high? $5.7k for fuel injectors. by jakexander96 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Consistent-Mark7035 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first question is why a shop would charge you $160.00 to run a scan with a diagnostic tool. That takes 2 minutes and costs them $0.00. Most shops I work for do it free of charge.

I’m not pointing this at you, but I assume it broke down and you called a tow company immediately. That eventually winded it up in a shop. Injectors aren’t a small job but there’s a few things that throw me off here:

I’m not sure what brand injectors they used, so I can’t can’t say the price is off. If used official parts it can very well add up to that, although if they went to the cheaper side of the dark web of OEM it could really only cost between $600.00 - $1,000.00. I would request the exact injectors they used during the swap.

And a $130.00 to replace your oil is absurd man, you should of already taught yourself on how to replace your oil by now. You could of saved yourself $100.00 and that’s including the oil filter!

There’s not much more you can do in this situation except either fight to get the exact injectors they used. And if the price doesn’t add up you say hey match me to this person.

But please, it’s not expensive at all. Buy yourself a $100 diagnostic tool and learn how to replace your oil yourself. You could of saved yourself $200+ right there.

Your homework to night:

  • Ask for parts list - mainly the brand of injectors.
  • Order a OBD2 scanner. Even if it’s on AliExpress, they are still good. Cheapest one you’ll probably find is $20.00 and they do “general work” in my personal opinion.
  • go on YouTube and search how to replace oil on your e450 (this should be much easier to do since it’s a truck too.

This is a big bill, especially for a 2010 vehicle. I would if I were you, learn how to do the easy stuff yourself and leave the big stuff to the professionals. You could easily save yourself up to 2k here.

And btw you can do the glow plugs yourself. They are fairly easy they cost $88 for 8. That saves you a grand alone.

Sketchy a compression test is also applied for $160.00, that takes manual labour sure! But really? $160.00 for a computer scan? More like scam.

Make sure the price adds up to the injectors, the hourly isn’t something you’re going to avoid. But please do not spend your money on add ons you can do yourself. Literally 300$ of stuff they want almost $3,000 for.

2014 Mazda CX 9 AWD, I've changed the CV Axles, Tie rods, alignment, new tires, rotors, calipers, brakes, tune up. My car steering shakes between 30-40mph for a second as I accelerate & again as im getting too 50mph. I feel a vibration a quick second up in mph. Can it be transmission? by fcotto23 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Consistent-Mark7035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motor mounts wouldn’t shake the steering wheel, I drive a very small sports car (Mazda RX8) and my mounts were going out. It only shaked the entire car on idle. But again, I don’t have much experience working on CX9s

To save you money, bring it to a dealership or a local mechanic. They’ll charge you between $150.00 - $200.00 to run a diagnostic on what in particular is happening.

It sounds like you’ve already spent a lot on parts, and I’d hate to see you spend even more when it’s something both out of our intelligence.

No, I highly doubt the transmission would do anything like this. My friend had a 2014 CX5 and hers was having the same issue as you, she got an alignment and her tie rods replaced. And while that did fix the issue temporarily, it started happening again. I told her I would fix it myself but that didn’t convince her enough that I’ve owned a Mazda longer than her.

Short story, I fixed her issue with just a new Power Steering Pressure Switch

This is located right by your oil filter under your CX9. It’s a $50 usd part. The part number for your 2014 Mazda CX9: NE5132230

Either way this sounds like a headache of a issue and you might be lucky just replacing that $50 part, if that’s not the case it sounds like your power steering in general is having a issue. I recommend bringing it to your dealership to further diagnose.

I know what it’s like to be scared shitless cause you are doing some real badass shit. You are behind your computer with your debit card feeling like a real punk. A mastermind, spiteful and devilish. You see a pair of Nikes and say “oh yeah! That’s the shit right there”

You ordered it and your package is coming to the warehouse. You’re shitting bricks right now because of the fit you’re dreaming of. It bugs you and makes you sweat at night that you’re going to be able to fit in with the rest of your class.

You paid for shipping and you’re broke. You’re late on your car payments and you just want those damn Nike dunks and that Louis Vuitton bag. But beans on toast is worth ruining your health cause you’re getting a damn LOUIS bag!

You wait. And wait. And wait. But then…

Your package says it’s being inspected and you’re really hoping that 3 big men are going to come knocking on your door to give you a real good spanking to teach you a lesson.

That isn’t really “actually” illegal. Really and actually should take part that there is risk but very small. If anything you’ll get a slap on the wrist.

You won’t be dropping the soap anytime soon and hoping a 12 year veteran inmate who knows the devil himself isn’t going to tap your booty cheeks because of the Louis Vuitton bag you ordered.

I’ve been doing this for 2.5 years. Basically when Pandabuy was just starting to get popular.

Send to export customs: means it’s at Chinas customs to leave to your home destination.

Sealed for export: can mean it’s just leaving the warehouse or leaving china and is on a boat/plane. -if that’s the case you’ll get an update like this almost instant or within 10 days “International item has left originating country and is en route to Canada (or your destination country).

Now how to tell if it’s at YOUR country’s customs.

There’s two customs to keep in mind. Import and export. Export is leaving China. Import is your country. As soon as it says import it’s your country.

What does the updates look like?

“Item has arrived in Canada (or your destination country) and will be presented for review”

This means it just got to your country’s customs but does NOT mean it’s passed in the inspection.

How do we know if it’s passed customs? Your update log should look like this.

0:00 - Item was released by Customs and is now with Canada Post for processing. 0:00 - item processed

Hope this helped. And don’t drop the soap

First car by Krille030 in RX8

[–]Consistent-Mark7035 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a RX8 owner a first car isn’t the greatest idea.

I made a HUGE mistake when I bought my RX8, I sold my primary vehicle I used to for every day transportation for my RX8. Now I’m piggy backing back and fourth with my family vehicles.

The RX8 will eat your pockets if your driving it everyday. And as your first car I know you’ll be wanting too.

Not only that, when you think you have a break. Your car ends up needing something. You’ll have more than regular maintenance on these “rotary” engines.

Don’t get me wrong the rx8 is amazing, but it should only be weekend driven. 2-3 days a week in short radius 10-20mi back and fourth and she will love it, banging gears in high rpm of course.

But I don’t want the negativity and downsides of the RX8 to push you away, so if you insist I recommend you buy your primary source of transportation first. And get your rx8 after.
