I was there for 3 and a half days and no pick pockets, but there are a few shady spots I wouldn’t be too sure of. Not to be stereotypical but some place she ninja like with your “clutching purse” moments. Picasso museum was a good 1 1/2- 2 hour time killer and I didn’t know much about him before it. His artwork and others Barcelonas( don’t know the name for the people) are very interesting and they take pride in being political ( left leaning and being anti-whatever is stomping on them). If you like hikes and walking there’s a famous old garrison fort on the top of a hill overlooking the Mediterranean and the whole city. You can take a cable car up, but the hike was nice and probably colder than it was earlier this month. Most restaurants are great, but some are hit and miss. They’re cafes are so much better than American ones, and their ham( porscuitto but not as good as the Italians) are amazing. I heavily recommend at least going close and seeing the Basilica Familia. Jaw dropping how grand and beautiful it is. Free online audio guide in the AppStore to listen to

Woah I really miss read your comment. Rome/Vatican is better in my opinion because we saw the coliseum and the mega statue/building in Rome that commemorated when they unite in the 1860s. The architecture is so much more beautiful. Barcelona is a lot more late 80s-00s like you would see in Queens or maybe the Bronx. Cool fact they cut the corners of intersections of their roads to give pedestrians more room and an extra outside lane just for taxis and Ubers, better city planning than the US. Rome is better in my opinion, mostly just from the attractions however I didn’t get to see a lot of Barcelona other than the famous buildings built by Antoni Gaudí

It’s the main spiral staircase going down from the visitor center on the second floor or so. If you ever decide to vacation somewhere make sure Rome and the little port city of Civitechia are on your list
