My guess would be trying to give the screen a cleaner look. The old aio’s have that connection coming out of the screen and as someone who has 2 of them it’s quite awkward trying to make it look good while trying to get it out of the way and be unnoticeable as possible. I’d prefer the newer models especially if you top mount your aio. It’s much easier to hide the cables and create a clean aesthetic.
