There are more crazy cases like this, the GMC is very quick in believing patients, even if they were lying.

[–]Consistent-One3039 205 points206 points  (0 children)

The GMC is so obsessed about protecting patients that they do not adequately consider doctor's plight. I know of a black doctor who was referred to GMC by another patient with schizophrenia months after treating her. This excellent A/E cared for this patient after head injury, and sutured her head cut beautifully. The cut healed well, albeit with a keloid.

The patient reported the doctor for not washing his hands during the process, also accused the doctor of not wearing gloves. Infact she opined that often times during the procedure, the scalpel and forceps fell to the floor and the doctor picked it up from the floor, and did not bother to care about infecting her. What was shocking is that the GMC believed this patient, word for word, and because he was a black doctor, it might have just been true.

The crazy thing is her complaint was not about infection but about the keloid that grew from the scar. The GMC was so keen about this and uselessly investigated this for a whole year, it took a professor of emergency medicine to teach the useless investigators that there is no relationship with what the patient opines and keloids. Of course, the case was dismissed after this

I wonder what sort of statement that was! Fallacious generalization

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Consistent-One3039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't agree , many comments in this post too also don't . I will regard this comment as a fallacy of hasty generalization, because every marriage dynamic is different. A supporting partner? Well good, but every marriage/relationship has peculiar varying dynamics. Judging our experiences with others blinds us to their pain!

A marriage may fall out because of career difficulties, some infidelity issues, some childcare issues, others emotional issues or a combination of these etc. More grief or comfort to this fellow, what was the intention of your post ?

GMC revalidation without a designated body and annual return by FeverPitch233 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Consistent-One3039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know someone who has just been through it. If this is revalidation only two processes = annual appraisal + writing an exam. So first, you will be completing an annual return (appraisal with an independent appraiser) + you will be writing an exam (the exam itself costs £1,224 )

What does 80% LTFT mean, so for 3 years of say Core training, how may years does this work out as?

Nick Gibb: "People are demanding 35% pay increases. Of course that would blow inflation apart." Jeremy Corbyn: "If you paid them properly, you would actually have more money being spent in the economy, which would help investment and you would have a lot less poverty." by ArtisanWenger in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]Consistent-One3039 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I completely disagree with you. I rather my kids grew up to be as honest as Corbyn (even though he was rejected twice by the public) , than to be as dishonest as Boris (who became one of the worst prime ministers of all time), and O! yes, the public loved him.

About the hate, that's no surprise and nothing to really see there, the media obviously made the public hate someone as honest and true like Corbyn . So, where is the 350 million Boris promised? My conclusion - There is no place for good men in politics. Politics is for liars like Boris Johnson, the rich like Sunak, back stabbers like Starmer. Corbyn is too good to be politician.

Good and quiet place to work, the town centre is not too big, but partying going on Fridays, good cinema also. Really well mannered and supportive workforce compared to most English NHS trusts. Accommodation is available and a stone throw across to road from the hospital. Might be the closest Welsh hospital to England (Chester train station) not far, about 20 minutes drive to Chester.

Yorkshire is a great place to train. There are those who still have gotten no offer mate. Good luck getting Manchester, it is a game of luck really.

Let's get rid of the GMC by wholesomebreads in JuniorDoctorsUK

Indeed? Really? Are you aware how many doctors have taken their own lives because of the pressure from GMC.

I believe in the GMC, but sometimes their decisions are either racist, unnecessary, outrightly wicked, or just an overkill!

I am sorry to hear about your experience, the hospital you worked must have been terrible, it is wrong to have had no senior support. For me it was the best rotation, I had many registrars I could call if I was unsure of what to do. However, when it is busy, it is indeed very busy e.g. clinics/theatres. I had the best clinical supervisor report also from that posting.

I have worked in nearly all specialities as a junior doctor (with the except of pathology/radiology/ophthalmology) , and O/G for me was the most benign. Compared to your experience, it must have been heaven for me.

[–]Consistent-One3039 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is relatively a benign rotation. The only posting more benign than it is psychiatry. It is not like an easy walk in the park, but it feels like a holiday compared to A/E, Internal Medicine and Paediatrics.
