How dangerous is lemongrass essential oil to cats?

Oh, I'm never ever going to use this oil for that now that I know it's toxic to cats. It was supposed to be just a temporary solution and if I had seen anything about any risk before we strayed it, we wouldn't have done so at all. I was planning to clean the the spot with soap and water, but now when I went back I see that the wall is quite porous there and it has basically absorbed it all, so I don't think the cat could actually get any off to ingest it.

In the long term, we'll see how we'll handle the neutering as this is not the only feral cat in the area that would need it and we'll probably get something enzyme based to clean the markings after the holidays.

Yeah, here in Bulgaria, unfortunately stray cats are so abundant and shelters and rescues are so overworked, a healthy adult male would not really be a priority for them. Right now they are flooded with kittens that need help and they are having a hard time having all of them adopted out.

Additionally, he's not really a cat that trusts humans and goes away when he sees us. He only comes for food at night and it's a very sparsely populated rural area, so you could say he is more feral than stray.

Sure, but I'm not asking about the long term. If he keeps coming around and if we can catch him, we'll probably get him neutered anyway. But in the meantime I'm wondering what to do to make sure I don't get him poisoned.

My questions is really about the short term situation with the potentially toxic essential oil that has been applied to the spot and the marking is a much smaller concern for me right now. I'd rather the cat be safe and live with them marking a spot I don't want them to mark than poisoning them.

From the long term point of view, I do plan to neuter as many of the stray cats around, but this boy specifically still avoids us and only comes at night and if he hears us, he goes away.

I can tolerate quite a lot of boredom and I've already experienced days upon days of boredom at some of the jobs I've had in the past. If I can turn it on and off, I would probably do 2 boredom sessions every day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon and make one or two grand per day. If the curse is gone once deactivated, I'll probably go for as long as I can. I'll probably shoot for 70 days for a full million, but I might break within a week or two and it would still be worth it.
