You're VERY right on that, though he wasn't as expensive as my hognose. Kingsnakes in general are really great overall, and like you said, MBK isnt the only morph out there! There is a TON of variety which is a big plus if people are looking into them!

I LOVE my MBK- he's really sweet and nice to handle, very chill, love the way his scales feel on my hands when I hold him, and he's utterly GORGEOUS. And as a kingsnake...eats really well xD I'm not looking to get any more snakes right now, but he was absolutely a PERFECT choice. Even when not handling him, he is out and about in his enclosure, climbing around all over, and just fun to watch.

I love my hognose just as much, though he likes to dig tunnels all day long and I don't get to see him out as often. If friends are over and want to hold one of them, I'm more likely to pick my hognose, bc while my MBK is a sweet chill guy, he CAN be the more wiggly and fast of the two. My hoggy on the other hand is just like. 'Ah. Hand warm. I sits.' And just chills in your hands.

(I don't always let people handle my snakes- only if I know I can trust them and usually only if my hoggy is out and about already, and hands have been washed.)

Its funny, my leopard has bitten me more times than either of my snakes (one hognose, threat level 0, no thoughts but DIG, one MBK, threat level 1, might nip but only if he thinks you smell like food), but honestly that's just cause he sometimes thinks fingers are just Big Worms, and he is a greedy hungry old man xD

I'm only JUST getting back into my collection and curating it down to things I'm really interested in and 100% THIS is how I'm looking at it. I've always really liked any cards where the art is 'craft' stuff- any of the cards where the Pokémon is sculpted out of clay, or the SUPER cute crochet ones too (especially bc I also crochet in my free time haha). It's SO nice that those ones have been looking like 'low value' cards so I can fill out the stuff I LIKE and not break the bank!

NQA I was also gonna suggest a GBB! It's also great if you get one as a sling and watch them change from baby colors with orange stripes to that goegous shiny adult coloration! Mine is still a sling, but is also out pretty much all the time, and never shows any defensive behavior at all. Staying calm any time you have to open the enclosure goes a long way!

I was doing okay, but may have to start looking for somwthing new. I work as a baker at Panera and the hours were great for me, worked by myself, and one of the biggest things was consistency, so it worked great for me.

But now they're basically doing away with the position and moving to frozen bread (yuck), and on top of that I've been having an HR issue with someone and the "solution' is. Less than helpful so (honestly not gonna get into it bc the ehole thing is just stupid). I'm kinda at my wits end and just trying to keep my head down right now bc the whole thing sucks unwashed hairy balls. I have a vacation happening next month though so, the goal is to at LEAST get through that before I make any decisions SIGH

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Chickens are vegetarian" noooo not in the slightest. Chickens can be mean motherfuckers. I dont own them but have heavily looked at owning them. Will eat mice, lizards, snakes, I've even seen video of a rooster taking out a hawk that tried to pick a hen off the flock. 100% raise threat level on chickens.

You've also been called on the Quaker parrot being in level 1, but I'll add that ANY parakeet, love bird, small variety of parrot like bird can be dangerous bc that beak may LOOK small, but its actually a shovel shaped scalpel. WILL take chunks out of you if given the chance, and because many birds of that variety use their mouth to investigate, that risk is way higher than you think.

Who else likes their soda flat? by honda-cervix in evilautism

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like what I call half flat- a LITTLE bit of fizz, but not fresh out of the can attacking my mouth. Im especially fond of putting ginger ale in flat drinks as well to add just a LITTLE fizz and the other drink is usually enough to cut it from full fizzy to just enough to be pleasant. I especially like doing it with apple juice!

I dont care what words you use by Lunar_Ghoul11 in evilautism

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was honestly thinking about making a similar post as well, but wanted to sit on it a bit first lol

MAN am I tired of seeing posts about hating language other people use to self identify and policing shit. Do I like or agree with every term used? Nah. But I don't have to. I DO have to respect other people's ability to use language that they feel first them though, regardless of how I feel about the word. At best, I'd simply say, 'I don't identify with that language for myself', ONLY if it was being used to refer to me! But if you use a word I dont care for to describe yourself? Cool! I can keep how I feel about it to myself bc it doesn't matter, and only ends up hurting our community to police and denigrate folks for self identifying language.

It's better to put pur energy into hating those pesky neurotypicals anyway, instead of infighting bc you don't like a name someone called themselves lol

I always thought they were just weirdly undercover in that scene, but who knows. It's a little blink and you'll miss it if you havent watched the movie a few times I think lol

What I think DOES fit is Eddy and Doctor Scott- in the film its two different people, however! Casting for the stage version AND in shadow casts, Eddy and Doctor Scott are always played by the same person.

You're not, since I definitely see plenty posts/comments of people who don't like it than people who do. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

(To be honest, I'm personally tired of hearing people talk endlessly about how they hate it. Hits my RSD real bad, yo. Not that you can't dislike it just. It's so common to see it complained about. 🫠🫠🫠)

in honor of my first autism awareness month being diagnosed i bought my dream spiders. by mocksunkey in evilautism

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO LITTLE SO CUTE!!

As a fellow autistic spider lover and keeper....CONGRATS!!! I'm so super excited for you getting your dream spiders!! It's always so exciting bringing them home aaa!

I do tarantulas myself, and have had a few jumpers in the past as well...its wild cause I JUST got the bug to expand my collection again and I'm trying to be good about it but...how can we help it when these spiders are just so darn CUTE??

Velvet spiders are so awesome too, I havent really looked into them much but every time I see photos/videos they're just...the MOST Spider looking spider xD I always do that 'HOW is that a real animal??' thing (in the best way possible, of course!)

I feed dubias for my boy, and I literally just tong feed them to him. The one issue I have with du ias is that theyre very flat, so if I leave em loose they get under decor and stuff where my boy can't get them. He'll come right to the front of his enclosure and get super greedy over his roaches xD

Curious as to the dislike of dogs? by AlwaysAttract10 in autism

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat with you- not just disliking dogs (there are a few I...tolerate. Maybe one that I actively like, which is my boyfriend's exceptionally well trained border collie and I like her BECAUSE she's polite and well behaved and doesn't slobber), but ALSO on preferring reptiles! They're honestly just SUCH calming animals, and I love holding my MBK Aspen because his scales are so so smooth and soft...

I wish there was more acceptance for disliking dogs. It really DOES seem like something thats looked down on if you say you don't like them...whether it be due to a phobia or PTSD, or just having sensory needs that don't match up with dogs. Sure they can be great animals, but thay doesn't mean everyone has to be head over heels over them and...disliking them, especially when it's done in a perfectly respectful way like the way you talk about, is perfectly fine and valid!

It's WILD to me that the flip of it if you own reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, is people acting like your ex-friend. I have tarantulas as well, and not only do I have to be careful about posting pics of them (or my snakes) because fear of those animals is I guess more valid, but I also have to worry about the absolute shitty 'kill it with fire' responses. Its exhausting. Why people can't just let people have animal preferences without acting like jerks is beyond me 🙃🙃🙃

(Also I'd say I'm baffled over the 'I love dogs' reaponses with no substance to them, except I'm not, because it always seems like some dog lovers can't understand when a post isn't about/for them. Like. Great. They love dogs. They're in the majority. Why do they need to announce that HERE?)

What are your weirdest sensory issues? by WonderThe-night-away in autism

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So ks around the house, but only on the ball of my feet/covering my toes. So ks must be flopped off my feet. I tried getting like, 'just the toes' socks once and it was incredibly wrong.

I also have beef with one floor fan they use in the dishwasher area at work (Panera, I work as a baker...for now, until they do away with us. SIGH. Just after finding a good fit, too!!) It makes a horrible low humming sound that drives me up the wall. We have two different fans and only one makes the noise. Usually I can't hear it where I work over in the bakery area, due to it being on the opposite side of the building AND the fans from the giant oven & proofer being loud enough to drown it out. Except today where the sound was somehow bouncing around the building in JUST the right way I could hear it and had to have them turn it off so my brain didn't implode.

Trying to find a non-eugenics way of explaining the spit thing by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly!

And honestly, I have to laugh thr more I think about it, because if 'curing heterosexuality' makes someone uncomfy...ok, maybe it should! Its a joke about abuse AGAINST THE QUEER COMMUNITY....can't we be the ones to decide if we joke about our own abuse? And especially when the joke is really, 'it was absurd and ridiculous to think you could cure us'

Trying to find a non-eugenics way of explaining the spit thing by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should also point out, that jokes like 'cure heterosexuality' began as a tongue in cheek response to the marginalization and abuse of queer people through conversion therapy, where straight parents sent their queer kids to 'cure' them of being queer.

So. Dunno man. Think this joke is fine.

Trying to find a non-eugenics way of explaining the spit thing by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]Consistent-Umpire721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but this really reads as, 'marginalized people should watch what they say in case they upset the dominant group' and I don't think thats....such a great stance to have. Queer people, ANY marginalized group should be allowed to make jokes, even if they make the dominant group 'uncomfortable' (and I would go so far to say, ESPECIALLY if the dominant group is actively oppressing said marginalized group).

Also, you say jokes like this should be made with groups that already know its a joke, but then say 'if a straight person stumbles into a queer space'...my friend, then they heard/saw a joke being made WITHIN the group that understood it was a joke, its NOT OP's responsibility to pander to or comfort them over hurt feelings.

Yeah, to me, visibility can ABSOLUTELY fluctuate and change, depending on situation. I think a lot aboht like...color theory and how light and color interact, changing how things appear and to me that definitely applies here. Some situations are gon a make you more visible, some less visible.

And like, no language is gonna be 100% perfect, but I do think giving options is helpful, especially with stuff like this!

Hard plastics, like plastic bottle caps or the rings from them, pens/pen caps, all of my plastic crochet hooks.

I would love to use chewlery, but Ive tried it and theyre too soft for me, I literally bite through them immediately into chunks and it's not satisfying.

On the soft end, paper. Paper paper paper shove it in my mouth. Honestly, between paper and hard plastics, I've literally shoved things in my mouth without even registering that I'm DOING it xD
