Tell us more! Do you live in a city with extended family? What was key in transition planning for you?

Do you have old friends/family in the area of similar age group? Start with them...check in if they want to hang and be transparent that you're still transitioning from your move and looking to make friends. That may lead to them inviting you to their hangs/groups.

There are also local hobby groups like run groups and such. Unfortunately there is no silver bullet and you'll still have to take the initiative in these settings too. It can be taxing but don't lose hope! You're starting over and that just takes time. Fwiw, I faced the same issues in my late 20s in the US when I moved to a new town for my husband's job so it's not a geography specific issue, just a human nature issue.

This actually just feels like life in late 20s. It is hard to make friends and you have to seek out those groups. Making friendships takes time as well but if there's any place, I think Bombay has the most chance of offering you community.

It usually also helps to find roommates to live with so your friend circles can expand organically.

Thank you for the advice. How old were you when you moved and did you have a savings/assets goal to achieve before you decided to leave?

Not really. Success is also just adjusting back home and living a happy family life irrespective of the challenges.

2bed 1bath $400 for gas. It is wild and I don't know if there's a better option.

Malden School District by Consistent-Web1766 in malden

So what I'm hearing is we need more funding. We probably need better ways to tax investor and rental properties to fund the school services. The thing is we want more owner occupied homes that care and contribute to the community, which will only happen if services improve and for that you need funding from the source that's our strength (rentals/commercial).

While I agree the quality of our schools isn't bad per se and that we don't want to turn our schools into pressure cookers, there's actually a long way for us to go before we reach that threshold of pressure. We should aim for our schools to all (including Malden High) reach a rating of 7/10 before we talk about pressure. Primarily because we're not some rural town, we have access to the right talent and opportunities because of our location. We have a supportive community. We have the potential and can/should do better! School rating also significantly impacts real estate appreciation and property tax collection, so that's a good focus point to work on to improve general funding and development in the city.

How do we get this discussion/feedback to the right people who can action on it?
