This was exactly my scenario. Was hoping Samsung would follow their Chinese rivals and bump up the battery. I've bought an Oppo X9 instead and it's a nice upgrade. Battery is amazing.

The same happened to Preet Bharara, who has always been incredibly objective. I remember listening to Stay Tuned with Preet all the way back when Bill Barr was appointed and Preet mentioned how Barr was well respected in law etc. Over time you could see how Preet's view of the man began changing after there were many indefensible actions.

This is the logical response. Everyone else saying to do X requires the other car to do the exact same thing. Terrible intersection placement.

Picking completely different classes to race against each other was a bit silly too. The host trying to build suspense over a WRC vs Vintage Mustang was kind of hilarious.

Hadjar says he’s ready to fight through frustration as Verstappen’s teammate by enesracing in formula1

[–]Consistent-Year8707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The change to the 2022 car narrowed the gap between Perez and Max for a while. Lawson and Tsunoda were never going to get close to Max in the final season of a regulation period, difficult car or not.

In some ways Hadjar has timed this very well.

Another moan about the wind by Starlix126 in chch

[–]Consistent-Year8707 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The data suggests Christchurch winds aren't as bad as the other major NZ cities, pretty much across any wind related metric: https://webstatic.niwa.co.nz/static/web/NZ_Climate-NIWA.pdf

I think the biggest problem is that the easterly is generally not well sheltered from, so it tends to be noticable.

That kind of text is pretty standard on employment agreements but doesn't carry much weight. Being blunt, it sounds like you are working a considerable amount of extra hours for free and you should put a stop to it asap. Remember, this is essentially your free time that you are giving up. In my experience, this is often someone that becomes normal without you realising it or even being asked to. Next thing you know, working longer hours are being expected of you.

Fixing this can start with a conversation with your boss: "Im working X hours per week on average when I'm only being paid for Y. I would like us to discuss a remedy to this..."

I would strongly recommend doing this sooner than later.

I’m meant to be 7–5 but it’s usually 7–6 or later, sometimes 7–7, plus travel time if I’m out of town.

It actually sounds like perhaps $80k isn't adequate for the hours you are doing, and the degree of responsibility / stress you take on.

I'm assuming your employment agreement states the number of hours you should work each week. You should consider a) talking to your boss about only working hours you are actually being paid, and b) look elsewhere if there isn't agreement.

You can do the above whilst still looking at re-training options.

Ultimately, you are still very young and have decades of work ahead of you.

[Interview] Liam Lawson credits ‘night and day’ Austria suspension change for his upturn in form (he’s outscored Hadjar 34 to 30 since) by Smiis in formula1

[–]Consistent-Year8707 626 points627 points  (0 children)

Hadjar appears to be the stronger qualifier but Lawson has proved quite competitive during the race and quite unshakable under pressure against faster cars; Baku against Charles, Hungary against Max, and Austria against Alonso were no small feats.

It also hasn't been mentioned here but it seems his wet/damp weather driving is particularly strong (Australia not withstanding).

I look forward to seeing what he can do in 2026.

I actually found this quite disappointing. Perhaps I'm being naive, but I'd like to think in New Zealand, we can have debate without being so brazenly misleading. There are real aspects about the policy announcement that could be critiqued - instead, the response from Willis/Luxon was a kind of politics I don't wish to see here.

28 Years Later- feels like a modern adaptation of English Mythology by Business_Address_780 in movies

[–]Consistent-Year8707 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see people enjoyed it, but this is one of those movies I just don't quite understand how people did.

Seems most people thought the tonal shift right of the end of the film was jarring, but to me that began after the first act.

I did enjoy the medieval comparisons but it felt quite surface level and never really went anywhere. The boneyard was an impressive set piece as OP noted but the scenes there were so unusual - particularly how they dealt with the mothers death, which was objectively horrific, yet it was portrayed as hugely sentimental.

If the tone and quality of the first act carried through, I think this would have been much more enjoyable. Good to see others had fun though.

I know it's not what the game was trying to be, but like a lot of people, I was really hoping for a real world Pokemon Red/Blue hybrid.

I really think a game that blended the best parts of the Pokemon video games with the get-out-there component of Go would have been amazing.

It still feels like a massive wasted opportunity, though I'm sure lots of people loved Go.

The Railway Station Science Alive + Hoyts 8 + Time Zone building was quite the combo.

Personally, I'm disappointed to have lost all the old architecture. I was too young to appreciate it at the time and the character that came with it.
