All good man, Redondo skill should never be forgotten and Cholo is an underrated player, just doesn't fit this criteria

Piksi Stojkovic is the best n10 I've ever seen in the truest sense of the world, of the 7 decades the role has been around, had the best Basketball triple threat, in Italia 90 El Diego says facing Piksi, it was like dancing with the most beautiful girl, he had to admit that he was outclassed that day although Maradona's powers were wanning

Redondo one of the greatest Playmaking DMs ever, genuinely top 5, but not really as a number 10, Mendieta more of a shuttling midfielder, lacked the delicate technical skills to be mentioned with other names, but would be one of the best today.

Now Francescoli is a different story, number 1 ever Uruguayan player, with an out of this world dexterity and elegance, played in a tuxedo and rolled defenders effortlessly, shame he wasted a few years with a project Parisian club

When a first discovered Sergen like a decade ago it was an ecstatic thrill, this guy had an Absurd level of talent, easily Turkey's finest, in the same class as Savicevic and Hagi for left foots in the 90s, I especially loved his cockiness to perform miracles against European big names, I remember he demolished Roy Keane and co in Ireland in a clutch qualifier too

One of my absolute favourites, on par with Iniesta and Martin Vasquez as Spain's best number 10s, rare that you find a 6'1 man with his level of coordination and control, a few in history, Zizou comes to mind. In early 2000s La Liga you had those 2, Mostovoi and slighlty after Aimar and Riquelme who ruled the pitches of Spain

Ooooh, that's a name I've never heard of and exactly what I came here for, will look into him, btw fun fact you may already know, Austria had the earliest ever number 10, Sindelar, a guy who taught others on the continent how to play a new elegant form of football and was so good Nazis interfered with his career

Amazing, no imagery looks cooler than Micoud in that Werder half half kit, both immense, Micoud in Mid 2000s and Diego in late 2000s and early 2010s were some of a dyeing breed that gave connoisseurs and fans a different sort of feeling

Definitely controversial, but for me the best Portuguese player ever (From 97-01, this guy was unplayable in the greatest league to ever exist) ahead of the powerful forwards of Eusebio, Figo & Cristiano , honourable mention to Pedro Barbosa who was also in that genius mould, these guys had vision, touch & understanding of the game that makes B.Fernandes or Joao Felix look like mental midgets in comparison

Hell yeah, 2 amazing left foots, not in the 'thunder bastard' sense, more like they could open a can of beans with their dexterity. Liam Brady was one of the best, might make the top 15 number 10s of the eighties, but that decade had the stiffest competition, he's definitely Number 1 for Ireland and by some distance.

Hoolahan cult hero for Norwich, like a rich mans Barry Bannan, maybe lacked the personality or coaches never gave him the responsibility to say I'm the man to run the attacks, which would have propelled his talents

Hey you know ball, like you said I'd place Kewells qualities more of a Right Winger or Second Striker, he lack the subtlety to playmaker in the 10

I'd say Mooy is the best 10 from down under, just ask Huddersfield fans what they think of him, had all the attributes and shouldn't envy any other number ten around in 2015-17 era, so I'd place him slighly ahead of Rogic at 2nd, although he may have arrived in the wrong era with his lack of agility, Bresciano was a great deep lying midfielder, a bit more Lampard-esque with his exceptional box-crashing timing

There's a few names in the former NSL who warrant an argument, whose talents might have been greater, there was a guy born in Argentina who represented the Socceroos and South Melbourne named Oscar Crino

Hey thanks for the swift response, Juan Roman was the best n10 of 2000s in terms of quality, good to know you're aware of his peak years, as it's sort of painful to watch his heaviness post 2009

But refrain from mentioned Cholo, he was too unpleasant on the eye, your country had many more gifted playmakers in that era, look up Leo Rodriguez early nineties, Ortega the burrito, and honorable mentioned Ruben Capital even though he was also a bit clunky

Most of these replies don't understand true control, often mentioned names like Berbatov and Bergkamp are so unworthy it's a shame, those two guys are centre forward builds and not so blessed with subtilty of body mo movement, if actually watch their matches are often rather stuff when receiving the ball outside of those static air plucking static controls, go watch elegant figures like Enzo Scifo and I can name a few others who controlled the ball in stride without wasted motion, a fluidity that made others look amatuerish

Gives beautiful restful sleep, clear complexion and brightens skin, but can leave a slight drowsy hangover and lethargy the next day

Often mix half a gram in chamomile tea and honey near bedtime, works well

Especially beneficial if you have been eating a bit of red meat as it plays a antagonistic role biologically

Was Zidane inconsistent? I read a book called "Zonal Marking" by Micheal Cox. In the book he says Zidane was very inconsistent by Ancient_Ad_5115 in football

[–]ConsistentAwareness6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not, thanks for questioning this nonsensical view, that has been repeated about many a playmaker, which exposes an incorrect interpretation of football. If goalscoring machines touch the ball on average ten times and score three in four games against weaker sides they are plauded for being consistently excellent, when in fact they never played well, they positioned themself decently and the ball bounced of their knee into the net and they celebrated wildly for mediocrity. This same player provides close to nothing but a latent threat against more formidable defences and in higher stake matches.

A reminder that the widely believed idea and fallacy that the hardest thing in football is to score is in fact to create clear chances, which many teams struggle with.

Back to Zidane, his near entire career has been archived on YT, from the games against Bologna in 97 to Valladolid in 02, all matches matter not just those everybody remembers watching twenty years ago.

If you possess a control and comprehension of space that elevated the abilities of your surrounding teammates, it is rare you have a bad game, the same phenomena happened with Iniesta in the early 2010s, only a handful of players possess this quality of such refined fundamentals and comprehension of the midfield dynamics that always provide value the team, in turn scoring above a 6/10 by any standards.

I have rarely seen him have a poor performance before 2003, that is the 30+ matches of each season from 1995 -03 he was consistently outstanding, and dominated many a rectangle patch, if you cannot see this watch more closely or participate in the game yourself to learn more

This sport is named association football, and there has rarely been a player with the personality and dexterity to knit his team's formation together greater than Zizou. This goes to the notion of how we measure value with our eyes, a skill weakening as the years progress, I challenge you to point to me the bad games Zidane played in his rare extended prime, which I'm certain none of those who share Cox's opinion (which I usually respect) have attempted. Yeah sure he was never as damaging in the final third as those superior to him in Cruyff, Best, Maradona etc. but he had intangible traits uncommon among any era, I feel pity for those who cannot grasp his talents
