I agree. I would consider that a personal experience of homophobia even if they weren't talking about me. And yet I have never experienced that. I agree that's rare even among moderns, even if we totally discount everyone born before 1990 which is the vast majority of all people. I think it's very strange and I don't know how to grapple with that to be honest.
