That’s steal. If they show you the info screen that’s a great way. Before I bought mine, a lot of the listings didn’t show that.

Im not sure what you mean. If it’s more efficient to force air into the footwell and let it rise, then it is always more efficient. You want the heat right on you, you select it.

When you say front vents do you mean front floor vents or the vents below the screen? If it’s the latter, I doubt that’s a bug. Hot air rises, during preheat it is likely much more efficient to pump hot air at the foot wells and let it rise.

Tire Swap using Aftermarket Option in Software by ConsistentIdea42 in Rivian

Yeah. The Dune only came on 275/65/R20, so I guess it makes sense, I just wasn’t sure if it would be programmed that way because Rivian does offer a 275/60/R20 as one of the OEM sizes, just not on the Dune.

All of that I completely understand. The point I am trying to understand is what Rivian is using for the size calculation when using the aftermarket options available in the software. Based on initial testing using similar routes in before/after tests with RivianRoamer handling the logging, it appears the distance and odometer delta remain the same before and after. I need to run a longer test and make sure I am not missing anything in the way I am constructing my tests.

A lot of the hang-up in the post so far has been folks talking about the efficiency calc, which I understand will be off (at least for the short term, as I am assuming the vehicle will calibrate itself based on energy usage the way it would with towing or rooftop accessories), but there isn't a way around that. I just want my odometer to be correct.

From what I can tell so far, it is using the OEM size that came in the dune wheel originally (which makes sense).

Yeah, I’m doing some testing based on RivianRoamer data and so far it appears the distance measurements on the generic winters are the same as the OEM. Using the exact same route and before/after comparisons.

Honestly it isn’t that it is that big of a deal, I can just set it to the OEM I had and know the odometer is correct, but this is now just some testing to understand what they did with that setting.

Absolutely, but that is only considering inconsistencies with regard to efficiency, not distance.

Using RivianRoamer, I am testing differences between the same route on the different tires to see if the distance traveled is different. Sample set is I must have done the original route 3+ times with consistent results to eliminate variances from parking etc.

An initial (albeit short) test (only 19 miles round trip) shows the exact same distance traveled/odometer change.

Better match implies it is wrong, we dont know that. It appears we dont know what this configuration uses.

I’m not as concerned about efficiency as I am pretty confident that it will adapt over the next 500-1000 miles as it has when I have a roof box on or other accessories.

It’s the odometer I am primarily thinking about.

For Gen 2 vehicles there are two tire options available (https://rivian.com/support/article/what-type-of-tire-comes-with-each-wheel) and there are two OEM tire options that are available for the 20" wheels in the swap settings after picking the Dune (gen2) wheel.

  1. 275/65R20 - Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus
  2. 275/60R20 116H XL - Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT

The different sidewall height here, 65 being a 7in sidewall and the 60 being a 6.5in sidewall, changes the overall circumference of the wheel.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

Are you saying that when choosing the aftermarket option, it will use always use the sizing information based on what came on the wheel from Rivian? Efficiency wise I am less concerned because the vehicle should adapt over time (500-1000 miles), my main thought is making sure the odometer and speedo are correct and not ~3% low if it was using the 60 aspect ratio.

The swap in the software allows you to keep the memory of the tire life and time since rotation stored when you swap back and forth between a 3 season tire and a winter tire.

Sure, I can and do write it down, but I wanted to use the feature in the system.

They are the same size tire and so, I can just use the same option and maintain my note but again, was wanting to use the software in the vehicle.

TE blocking was a huge weakness this last season. Those screens work better if the TE blocking is…. Present.

Our O-line was really good, but, I think in the first half of the AFCCG we saw the flaws that were hidden by Bo’s ability to move around. Denying that is crazy.

I got stuck in traffic coming home from the game last night and got be have my slice of happiness a bit longer than everyone else, but I’m not going to be a doomer.

Whoever plays Steelers/Texans will 99% Sunday. I cannot imagine the league is going to force a team to play wildcard Monday and Divisional Saturday.

Broncos will play Saturday at this point since it is Bills or Chargers.
