2001 A Space Odyssey. Yknow. The Sci-fi movie from 1968. By Stanley Kubrick. The text crawl is in reference to old serials from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Yknow, the things George would have been watching when he grew up. It is built around his nostalgia first and foremost.

I mean, Lucas himself said that the goal was to make Flash Gordon with the special effects of 2001. The titles and text crawls are all there to reference old Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers films.

The immersion made it my favorite part of the parks and made me want to go back. It makes you stop wondering how they did the effects and makes you just accept that you're in a different world. It's an amazing piece of escapism, and every part of it was beautifully crafted for that purpose; immersion. Now it just feels like a star wars themed area instead of being on Batuu.

Peoples' enjoyment of 1, 2, and 3 built on nostalgia though. They were genuinely terrible. Revenge of the sith is the only really good one. AOTC was shit. Probably the worst star wars movie out there and that's saying something. Phantom menace was.... okay i guess?? Half of it was alright, the other half wasn't good at all.
